BC Ferries To Start Security Check

Posted on Thursday, April 05 at 16:29 by Diogenes
Hahn was refuting comments made earlier Tuesday by Manuel Achadinha, vice-president of terminal operations for the fleet. "There will be times, for example, if security incidents increase, it'll be like the airports," Achadinha said. "It might take you an hour to get through." http://start.shaw.ca/start/enCA/News/NationalNewsArticle.htm?src=n040399A.xml

So if you are on the Americans "no fly list" you'll most likely be on the list the ferry security will use. To get off the island, one may have to walk on water. This apparantly has nothing to do with 911 but for the 2010 Winter Olympics. However, if this security was installed sooner, no terrorist living on Vancouver Ialand would have been able to crash into the American towers with the ship. The measure will now insure that terrorists will not be able attack the skiers in Whistler, with the vessal. Perhaps this will also justify the next several ferry rate increases.

That pretty much sums it up>
As I watched this item on the "news" those interviewed pretty much mimiced out American "cousins" " Well if it makes it safer to travel..."

So help me Christ, If the collective IQ of ferry travelers were added it might add up to George Bushe's hat size

Yesterday, acouple of us here kicked around the idea of how to "awaken" our fellows. Well kiddies, firstly we don't have any and secondly they are beyound awakening!

When one considers only the memberdship of Vive and the lack of responses received on any topic that doesn't have a flame war going on it is easy to see most people couldn't give a big rats ass, or a little ones either, what government does to them!
That my entry with the Buck Rogers type car got more response about the "free energy" aspect is proof enough to me that the average person on this planet can spot that type of malarkey and yet absolutely let the gov f**k them over on the bigger con!

The only people who should be checked are the drunks that pilot those ferries and sink them and drown passengers by pulling away from the dock while still loading up.

    What a pathetic joke!

I guess I'll now have to scratch travel by ferry off my list. Let's see, I can still travel by bus and car, so long as I stay in Canada. The list is getting shorter each day.

Maybe this is how they plan on solving the CO2 problem (another scam), by forcing everyone back into walking about with their own two feet.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm just talking to myself.

I did notice that there are usually always a few anon readers (probably CSIS and RCMP agents), and there appears to be a constant number of new registered users, but yes, it's kinda dead in here.

I only hope we're waking up someone! Perhaps some of those CSIS clowns will get deprogrammed, but I suppose that's unlikely.

I don't know about CSIS, But as I've mentioned I've a friend who is a ex RCMP undercover drug officer. He had a deep Epiphany and quit. so
it happens, But, by inlarge I don't supose many of the CSIS crew see other than what they believe in.

And should I be able to, and I am, and do, desire to see the place I was told we are here to be stewards of .... wouldn't it be freakin fabulous!

CBC radio interveiwed passangers as wll. Many were against the idea and felt the money could be better spent. Some were even appalled over the idea of even longer ferry delays. How many actualy will do something about or even attempt to, is in the less then the 1% range. Personaly, I'm talking to my MLA. Why is it that we have to constantly be in battle to just to keep the rights that we have?

I'm not sure if they were drunk but more likely inept. The Ferries provided the training and the Union considered it not enough. No one forced the crew to take over the helm regardless of experience. Now the crew will have the time, while peoples vehicles are being searched.

At one time a police officer could not search you vehicle unless they had Reasonable and Probable Grounds (RPG). A hunch was not good enough and unless the person was on DND or similar federal properties, a judge could throw evidence out. It would be unlikely the evidence would be tossed if it revealed incrimination of a serious offence. The searchs and delays cannot be done by anyone but a peace officer and with RPG. That's a fact that has already been ignored in Canada. Where are those lawyers when you need them? (Probably being frisked in some back room)

    boflaade,

“Why is it that we have to constantly be in battle to just to keep the rights that we have?”

My answer to our question goes back to the following maxim of law.

[juris ignorantia est cum jus nostrum ignoramus]
it is ignorance of the law when we do not know our own rights"

Also 99.90% of the population is in flagrant disregard of their civic duty on the matter of their "rights"
There is more concern for animals than for people some tv playing in the background was advertising a “news” segment about animal hotels, pedicures, hydrotherapy ad infinitum while the “news” d’jour is all atwitter about the seal slaughter, meantime global warming eliminating ice flows that where home to the seals.

I sometimes believe all this shit is out there just to piss me, and those who care, off.
We suffer the foolishness and out and out WILLFUL ignorance of our” fellow man”.
Jesus would have to die ten thousand lives to pay for the sins of stupidity occurring on any given day!

Deacon to a shot at me for wearing a tinfoil hat, well if that’s what it takes, a tinfoil hat to separate me from the masses of lugins taking up space on earth so be it.
    Because quite frankly My Dears,

I know this is off topic, but in light of the comments above - feeling like you
are talking to yourself, or preaching to the choir, or low views and comments
on vive....here's what I believe has happened....

vive's mission was not meant to be a bitch session, or simply a place to
argue...it was formed primarily to inform, and with the hope that as people
became informed, educated to the truth, they would respond with activism or
    just action.

For the most part we are still informing, but as more people learn, the
reaction tends to be...too much info...no solutions and so therefore better to
not know...as we yearn for a better world, we tend to point fingers at those
who we feel are responsible for our situation. We point to them and they
point to us, if you look at the media and propaganda which is everywhere...it
really has become a blame game...they are out there doing things, they are
the enemy, they are after you and your money, and your family, we can
protect you, no we can protect you....no no only we....either political or
religious or activists etc....everybody is recruiting followers to get on the
bandwagon and help stop 'them'. They recruit and ask for your money,
donations of your time and efforts and voila you are finally doing
something...it isn't working...but you are doing, so you feel good. It isn't
working because we have some very sophisticated systems which suck our
energy away from what we should be doing and destract us with their facade
    of truth.

If we took all the activist groups in Canada and pooled the energy into one
issue at a time, we could make real change happen...but everybody thinks
their issue is the most important and so the energy is split between
issues...all we need to do is work one issue at a time...unfortunately we can't
seem to agree that one issue is the most important, because there are so
many. That is no accident. From my perspective everything flows from the
NAU, what happens in B.C., or Nfld, or anywhere inbetween, can and will be
superseded by the NAU. No matter whether we want to have better working
conditions, or just work, healthcare, education and our food supply all comes
back to the NAU. That to me must be our priority. We our country strong and
united if we are going to change the path we are on.

Who are they and them who are against us?

Them is us...all of us...that is my understanding...it is us who do not speak
out at the right time, in the right place, in the right manner, it is us who do
not become informed and so cannot speak out, or the us that turns a blind
eye, or the us that accepts the propaganda as truth....a friend suggested to
me the other day that we need some
'Bullshit Immunization Clinics'....and I think he is right! We need a bullshit
recognition system, a code orange that can be placed on the b.s., just like
they do to us regarding anything to heighten our fear factor,....we need the
reverse....we can call it code brown....the darker the brown the more it has
cured, the more rotted the manure the deeper the colour, the richer the
substance and the less it smells...a newly processed pile is usually very potent
in smell, we should be able to detect it quite easily and call BULLSHIT!

Then we need to have real action...as we did with the census...make it easy
for people to do...as we know many people will help if they believe they
can...if they think its too hard or too complicated they won't...and especially if
they are in fear...so we need to reduce the fear factor....I guess we need to
start offering comparisons, which is scarier; you writing a letter of protest
and being afraid you'll be arrested for doing so while we live in a free country,
or you trying to figure out how to survive in your new cell? Which would have
been scarier for the German's; speaking out and getting slapped in public-,
or trying to find a way to avoid the gas chamber once the march was on? Of
course one person speaking alone is dangerous, but many, many voices
speaking together is not. The time to avoid the fear factor is before it is
    insurmountable...I would think?

for what it's worth...my two cents

Thin edge of the wedge. Not too big a leap from airport/ferry "security", to inter-city checkpoints, then inner-city checkpoints, then "papers, please!"........
