Support Federal Anti-Scab Legislation

Posted on Saturday, March 26 at 14:29 by eugene
On April 7, 2005, this bill will come before the House of Commons for a final vote. This means that we are only a few days away from obtaining one of the most important improvements in labour legislation in recent labour history. This amendment was lost by a very slim margin the last time it was introduced, so it is realistic to think that it might pass this time, if we get everyone we know to send a fax, email or letter to our MPs on this issue. For background links and email addresses for all Federal MPs see http://redbetweenthelines.modblog.com/core.mod?show=blogview&blog_id=523807

This bill will work wonders for the privatization of slow services and inefficient gov't. Good. The faster we can privatize the behemoth of gov't in Canada the better - imagine actually recieving the services that we already pay top dollar for and don't get!

You are dreaming in technicolor if you think "privatization" in reality "corporatization" will improve things. All it is is a crony capitalist scam to rip off the tax payers even more. See http://porkupineblog.blogspot.com/
By the way - stamp out scabbing!

How about a law right across the country banning all types of scab workers in all work places, and all industries?

It was the complete privatization of Argentina that bankrupt them. I guess Anon didn't see "The Take". Or maybe Anon was connected to one of the corps hauling tuckloads of money out of the country when it collapsed.

How might this affect the possible use of replacement players in the NHL next season? Or will this have any effect?

I'd like to see some legislation to severly limit the activities of sleazebag corrupt unions first. ;)

Nothing is being said about certain public services that can be catagorized as "essential service". In BC that one comes up when the Government is unwilling to negotiate. Big brother Liberals are not beyond that approach.
