U.S. Guns Coming Into Canada

Posted on Tuesday, March 23 at 14:42 by sthompson
I don't know if it fits into Michael Moore's view of the world, but big surprise, it seems a good portion of the guns being used in violence in Canada come from the U.S. where gun laws are far more lax.

CBC has been investigating this and offers the info at Staring Down the Barrel.

This will be a classic example where Canada won't be able to influence policy changes or gun laws in the U.S to reflect Canada's policies and laws.

Of course the U.S can influence policy changes and laws in Canada.

As I said in another comment, the ATF is already in Canada, implying they are here to stop the gun smuggling.

It's only the foot in the door.

    More will come.

Ok, so let me get this straight.

We send them pot and electricity.

They send us cocaine and guns?

What a ripoff. I say we throw Gordon Campbell and Paul Martin into the deal to even it out. Maybe Ralph Klein too. Make the Americans deal with them for their unfair trading.

Maybe we should close the border up tight and stop the shipment of oil, gas, logs from BC, and other commodities. Can never be too careful with all of that 'terrorism' going on!

More than that - it would certainly get the average Canadians' attention as well, especially when the Americans reciprocate - and the supply of consumer goods gets less plentiful, and prices go up. After all, something like 60% or more of our trade, both exports and imports, are done with the United States....

Alas, the $1 billion spent on a system to register citizens' firearms probably could've been better spent on controlling the flow of smuggled (read: illegal) guns from the US. That amount of money would've paid for a lot of law enforcement.....
