3 Million Wasted In Afghanistan.

The money is being used for hundreds of reconstruction and training projects, from well drilling to new schools. But those asking questions about results achieved for money spent have for months hit a bureaucratic stonewall. It has only cracked with the release by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) of thousands of pages of audits. Evaluators found the media project lacked even the most basic managerial oversight on the ground, while financial reports were spotty or nonexistent. That's why there has been budget restraints on some military establishments in Canada. The Esquimalt navy base in BC for one. Another case of spending money wisely. There is a reason why the government in Afghanistan wants the occupying forces to stay. Money flows freely and no control on how it is spent. Perhaps a new outdoor toilet for $1 mil under plumbing supplies.

"Prime Minister Stephen Harper last week announced another $200 million in funding on top of the $1 billion already committed to Afghanistan over 10 years."

Meanwhile our schools are being shut down here in Canada. Why is it that we tolerate a PM that puts Canada somewhere after 1st place? How does throwing away money at insane projects in Afghanistan help Canadians? How does killing Muslims make Canadians fee good about themselves?

How bad does it have to get before Canadians take a stand and say "Enough!"?

"If these men must die, would it not be better to die in their own country, fighting for freedom of their class, and for the abolition of war, rather than to go forth to strange countries and be slaughtering and slaughtered by their brothers, that tyrants and profiteers may live."

James Connolly in the Glasgow Forward August 15, 1914.
