Missile Defence Sovereignty Meltdown

Posted on Friday, January 28 at 14:47 by sthompson
Signing on to missile defence is not a simple act of being corralled one more time into going along with the bully. Canadian sovereignty will very likely go into meltdown. It’s one thing to be occasionally forced into a “coalition of the willing,” but quite another when our defence becomes infused with the history of a country that has, on questionable grounds, invaded 130 other nations. Too many Canadians know too little about the history of US aggression. Nor do many of us know that the US has invaded Canada four times. Learn for yourself by reading David Orchard’s book, The Fight for Canada. The statement 'We North Americans are mostly numb to the effects' is true and in interesting contrast to a comment I heard on KPFA today. A guy from the Council on Hemispheric Affairs commented about Bush's promises to spread freedom. He said something to the effect that Latin Americans and South Americans have learned that when they hear words like that coming from Washington 'the gunboats are coming next'. This was said during discussion of Washingtons meddling in Venezuala.
I say let's do what we can to stand up to the gunboat diplomats, warmongers, torturers, and war criminals.

Delusional is the best way to describe some of these arguments against missile defence. The author not only completely misunderstands how the defence system works, he thinks it's a weapon of mass destruction, when it in fact uses less force to defend than the BOMARC system Canada used to have.

The author then goes on to imply that the CIA initiated the attacks on the World Trade Center - an assertion so ridiculous it only reveals how the author is being wilfully ignorant.

And, to top it off, he recommends that Canada not even know what is being done for defence in North America in order to somehow secure our sovereignty, another point that doesn't make any sense - unless it is the author's objective that Canada has less sovereignty over its own territory.

No one will ever really know if the CIA was key in planning the attack on the WTC. Just because they tell us something completely different does not mean all other possibilities are null. The main body of this article only reinforces the realities of American foreign policy, it is well known (and even taught in poli sci classes these days) how involved in illegal covert action the US gov't is. It seems only too obvious signing on to the missile defence system is folly. Linking Canada even more closely in defence issues will only bring more problems than the system itself can return in safeguards.

Ah yes, the good old Canadian elite's way - drop trou and bend over. Will Bush provide the Vaseline?

Anything is possible. Aliens may have commandeered those aircraft and struck the towers just to see how humans might react - true, maybe even quite likely! or it could have been those dastardly Leprechauns! don't trust'em!

This guy that wants to 'get friendly' with the US President should go to other websites, there's lots of them.

I hadn’t realised exactly how difficult it can be to bring this anonymous poster into reality.
To engage in any kind of discourse with this particular anonymous poster is fruitless and one must wonder what part of the ego he/she is able to tap into in order for these pointless diatribes to continue.
Whoever controls space will control the destiny of earth and when you look at the options out there, I would ask you, who do you want it to be, Iran, Russia, Iraq, China? I don't think so. .... For those who doubt and say we can't militarize space, I would say to you ... it will be no different than the militarization of earth by the United States of America.
Iran is a brutal and repressive Theocracy, Russia is becoming a fascist repressive state and China is a brutal and repressive pseudo-Communist state - let's hope the Americans stay on top in the space race, they're the only real hope for the world since the Europeans have given up and decided to 'go Arab'.

The fact that this is being taught in "poli sci classes" completely discredits the notion that there is any CIA-involvement in the WTC attacks. Everyone knows those academic types are deeply indebted to their real masters -- the liberal press. I'd be real careful here.
