Peterson was a member of the Canadian 49th Battalion, the predecessor unit of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment.
On April 7, the group of soldiers who practised the burial drill will finally lay Peterson to rest in the La Chaudiere Military Cemetery, near Vimy Ridge in northern France.
“It will be a full and proper military burial,” said Capt. Malcolm Day, a spokesman for Alberta’s army reserve units. “The remains of thousands of soldiers who fell in the battles of the First World War were never recovered, so this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pay our respects to a fallen comrade.”

He whom this scroll commemorates was numbered among those who, at the call of King and Country, left all that was dear to them, endured hardness, faced danger and finally passed out of the sight of men by the path of duty and self sacrifice, giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom.
Let those who come after see to it that his name be not forgotten.

who died, for their country did so without thought to what dreams they were
giving up. This is why we must strive to stop the ceaseless wars and instead find
ways to live on this planet in peace, so that the next generation can thrive to
their full potential without hindrance of maim or death.
Can you imagine what dreams, ideas, inventions and progress for humanity may
have been buried with those men and women? Can you imagine how much
further we might have progressed had we not lost all that wonderful potential
that lay in the hearts of our soldiers?

Here's a thought, do you think that the USA would be where they are if not for war or the power to creat war and manipulate foreign governments?
Do think that the resources, financial and economical would be made available for research and development with out it?
I put to you Canada the country of peace with all the resources but no resources for research and development in private industry and education without giving money away with no control.

are if not for
war or the power to creat war and manipulate foreign governments?
I begin this response with your tag line; 'Perception is two thirds of what we
perceive reality to be.'
'Do think that the resources, financial and economical would be made
available for research and development with out it?'
My response is yes. If we continue to believe that all the technology and
advancement only comes through war, all economic growth and our way of
life came from war, (as many believe WWII saved us from the
depression, no matter how wrong that belief is), then we will continue to be
willing to allow wars to rage for the benefits they bring to the survivors. We
invest in what we value and it is time that we demanded investment in
people, in responsible government, in responsible stewardship of the earths
resources etc.
'I put to you Canada the country of peace with all the resources but no
resources for research and development in private industry and education
without giving money away with no control.'
Again I say we are what we believe we are, what we perceive we are may not
be what we really are; is Canada a country of peace? Many of its citizen are,
but what do we invest in? We invest in what we value. My money, time and
energy goes towards the things I believe have value, if I don't object to
investing in things I don't value then I am giving permission to use my
money, time and energy for things that bring me the opposite of what I truly
desire. For instance I like to buy books rather than borrow them, because I
am a writer and I like to invest in other writers who have dedicated the time
just as I do with my work. Sometimes a person will refer a book to me but
before I buy it, I make certain that I 'want' the information, I value the author
and am willing to send a message back to this person that I value their book.
So I don't buy books that are negative, but I will buy a book that discloses
truth and has the ability to offer solutions with that information, even if I
don't agree with their opinion.
I don't buy books that say here's how to make a million bucks off the backs of
others' labour. I would however probably buy a book that explained how to
help millions of people become self-sufficient. I don't buy books that glorify
war, death and empire building, but I will buy books that explain how these
things occur.
I think we give subtle messages to our representatives which say fix the
economy and we don't care how you do it. Canadians stand for peace, but our
government invests in war and war based corporations, like Lockheed Martin.
When I accept this decision I endorse it.
I think it would be better to say let's fix the quality of living for people and
find ways to do it that don't disempower others in the process.

Decade after decade I have seen more and more of our resources being transported to the USA to be refined and shipped back to Canadian consumers whether it is cattle, oil or anything else one might want to suggest or mention. The refineries, processing plants and manufacturing plants that use to process our resources are now almost completely gone and what is left is run by foreign interests with foreign loyalties and ideals. I would also add like the cattle industry showed we as consumers are being held at times hostage by foreign interest groups with no investment in Canada and Canadians.
This I suggest is due to a lack of national investment in our own people, industries, corporations and small businesses by our own local institutions not just Government. One hears constantly that there are no resources for research and development in private industry and education so industry must move or sell off to foreign interests. This is put very simplistic but I think it does cut to the core of the issue. Trade agreements such as NAFTA undermine the heart and sole for research and development by Canada and Canadians. Lets not forget that intellectual knowledge is owned by the companies for which these people work and if these companies are not Canadian owned then the knowledge is owned by the foriegn owners and fall under foreign law not local law.
It seems to me that Canada’s non aggressive attitude does not serve its interests vary well as a nation. Also it allows Canada to be pulled into foreign conflicts whether it wants to be or not such as Iraq.

resources? Who gets to decide where we invest and that is the primary reason
why Canadians values are not being reflected in these trades deals, or war deals
etc etc. You are quite correct. Foreign ownership of the nation has led to loss of
jobs, and loss of our nation. I found an old aluminum tray the other day while
clearing out some of my parents stuff, and was about to give it away until I
turned in over and saw the stamp I have so rarely seen in years; 'MADE in
CANADA'. So I kept it as a remembrance of what we once were and what we can
become again. The tray means very little to me, but the stamp means a great
deal!

who will finally be buried I do not know; but I do know that he died for us, so
that we could be a free nation. Freedom means the ability to live in our
nation,
to be able to feed ourselves, cloth ourselves, manufacture goods and provide
a
decent quality of life for all. Foreign ownership of the nation is hardly what
these
men and women sacrificed it for! They didn't want us to live under Hitler or
any
other dictator and look at what we've become...slaves to the corporate
machine...which is not that different from what they fought and died to
protect us from, is it?
When we cannot speak against the machine for fear of losing our jobs, or
cannot chose the food we eat or crops we grow we are not free!

La Boétie wrote the following essay while still a law student at the University of Orléans in the early 1550s. Gene Sharp, author of The Politics of Nonviolent Action, had this to say about it: " Boétie's Discourse is a highly significant essay on the ultimate source of political power, the origins of dictatorship, and the means by which people can prevent political enslavement and liberate themselves. The Discourse should have a prominent place in the history of political theory, and also of the development of the power analysis in which the technique of non-violent struggle is rooted."<br />
