Mel Hurtig Said Canadians Can't Support Liberals Or Conservatives Because Of Mi

Posted on Thursday, April 08 at 21:00 by sthompson
Hurtig said that Prime Minister Paul Martin, Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham, and Defence Minister David Pratt are all intentionally misleading Canadians about the American National Missile "Defense" plans, which are really a well-documented plan to put weapons, including nuclear missiles and powerful lasers, in space. Hurtig said that if Canada signs on to become part of the U.S. system, it will be repudiating over 30 years of our country's leadership in the international campaigns for peace and disarmament, and, rather than offering Canadians any security, will ensure that Canadian cities will become targets in any future apocalyptic nuclear confrontation between Russia and/or China and the United States. The Edmonton-based author said that while both the Liberals and the Conservatives are hell-bent to join the dangerous and unprecedented Bush/Rumsfeld/Pentagon plans, outside of Quebec, among federal political leaders, only Jack Layton has shown the wisdom to speak out against Canada's participation. Hurtig said the decision is pivotal, one that at the very least could well determine our future ability to have any kind of independent foreign or defence policies. He also quoted several well-known international authorities to the effect that dangerous new tensions leading to the possibility of a devastating nuclear war are rapidly increasing because of the American Star Wars plans.

Thank goodness for Mel, he is one individual not afraid to speak up, to try to educate the populous, even though we have consistently been deaf to his truths! He warned us in the Betrayal of Canada, and then again in The Vanishing Country...he has been right on the money every time...I wonder if we will listen now!?

    Duh.

I still laugh that some people still believe a vote for Layton is a vote for Harper. Harper has no chance. Even if he gained votes, they'd be in the same ridings. The people that speak against voting for Layton are doing their best to bring about a definitive two-party, one-voice state. Thanks. They probably voted for the Liberals in the past.

    Heh.

Anon: "but Canadians are terribly blind of the real threat on this planet."

Would you care to enlighten us!

I hope you are right about Harper, he scares the beejeezzz out of me, Layton has got to be the one this election, the other two parties are really a vote for the americanization of Canada(IMO)..we need to get Layton in to stop the sell out, the take over, the warmongers etc!

I don't believe Hurtig suggested they were the "Bad guys." He suggested that they would build an advanced nuclear arsenal in response to BMD.

Hurtig wants us to be an autonomous nation, free of U.S. control...and the U.S. is close to Isreal, so HOW is he cozying up to Israel? (I don't get it.)

Perturbed, you are making me perturbed! It is Israel not Isreal, assuming you are talking about the country. I had not heard that Mel Hurtig was cozying up to Israel until you mentioned it. Care to enlighten us?

Mel is right RMD is an offensive weapon. Did you not hear those twisted monsters yowling about "the best defense is a good offense"? Did you not hear the convicted war criminal George W. Bush say that the US would strike pre-emptively when ever and where ever it felt necessary to do so? I have paraphrased what he and his ring wraithes have said but I think I got the gist of it.

Now, with a loose cannon like the US running around, how safe do you think China feels? Perhaps "cannon" is no longer apt so let me change it. With a "loose collection of WMD's" like the US running around how safe do you think anyone or any country should feel? Consider that the US bombed a Chinese embassy, (it was a US plane and NATO is US controlled ), on May 7, 1999. First they declare it an accident then they declare it was retaliatory. How would the US react if another country had accidentally on purpose bombed one of their embassies?

Will Canadians listen? How are they going to hear about it? They are not going to be told by the big daily newspapers or big TV or radio networks. Most of the guys and gals that I work with read the "Sun" or the "Herald" from front to back and then consider themselves very well informed on the events of the day. I do my best to open their eyes and will continue to do so but it is not enough. We need a "Georgia Strait" style newspaper again, like we had in the early seventies, a beacon of light in the dark of the night. This might at least get some of the youth tuned in. Has anybody else got any ideas of what we can do? I would like to hear them.

IMHO a vote for the Liberals or Conservatives is a vote for the annihilation of the entire human race.

I've deleted the comment by anonymous. Went one step too far.

FAIR critiques of Israeli policy are welcome, anonymous. Feel free to try again with this in mind.

Hello Milton. Here are the answers to your post.

    1. I meant to type "Israel," but forgot to check my post, and was very tired when I posted it.

    2. I was responding to the post by anonymous, which Susan deleted, which suggested that Hurtig was an "Agent for Israel," by claiming China, Russia were the real threats. I simply pointed out that Hurtig wants us to be independent of the U.S., which is the country closest to Israel, and that he was simply saying that China, Russia WOULD build up newer arsenals in response to the Star Wars plan. Hurtig never said "China and Russia" are the real enemies. Actually, Hurtig mentioned how Russia was disappointed that Canada isn't condemning the BMD plan.

Where is our disagreement? I don't see it.

Ok Perturbed, I have to agree that we don't disagree. Thanks for the response.

They already have lasers on satellite in space that can hit a target as small as an almond. The satellites also have radio transmitters and heat-seeking cameras that can "see" through walls and other structures that do not emit body heat. They have already conducted experiments using disposible members of the population such as the poor as subjects. They can use the lasers to "zap" organs of the body and brain and torture and manipulate the subject giving them a practically divine control.Canadians are blithely unaware of what is coming down the road-it is a kind of fascism that Hitler himself wouldn't have dared to fanasize about! Thank God for Mel Hurtig for having the courage to speak the unthinkable!

Agreed about Mel, where is this other info coming from, would love to hear more? It's starting to sound like we are living in a sci-fi film only worse, cause there is no popcorn and we can't press pause!
