Moral Obligations Of Muslim Immigrants

By far the most difficult experience of Muslim immigrants in the West has been the aftermath of Muslim acts of political violence in their countries of residence. Almost no Muslim immigrant community has escaped this experience. These events have had an adverse effect on the public image of Muslim groups. The majority of people in Western countries who have been the targets of terrorist attacks by Muslim groups look at their Muslim minorities with fear and suspicion. Many have doubts about the loyalties of Muslim minorities and fear that some members of these ethnic groups will join terror groups against their host societies. Western governments and political leaders have called on Muslim community leaders to condemn the violent ideologies that inspire the acts of terror. What are the moral responsibilities of Muslim minorities under these difficult circumstances? Clearly the first and most important duty of these ethnic groups is to condemn terrorism and do whatever they can to prevent any member of their community from engaging in religiously motivated acts of terror against their host country. Indeed loyalty to the new homeland is the duty of any immigrant. Even if an immigrant feels attachment to the culture or well being of the motherland from which he or she or parents have emigrated, he or she can not betray the new homeland because of these attachments. Under the worst circumstance where the immigrant's motherland and host country are engaged in a heated conflict, the immigrant can not betray his new homeland. If one believes that in this conflict one's new country of residence is at fault, one's only moral option is to leave for another country or engage in non-violent political opposition to one's host country's policy. http://www.arabamericannews.com/newsarticle.php?articleid=6133

Loyalty to their new homeland??? Ha! Unlike the European immigrants who migrated to Canada in the early and mid 20th Century, most of the recent Muslim immigrants don't give a damn about Canada and have absolutely no respect for the laws of the land.

Thanks to irresponsible immigration policies, Canada will soon be one giant ghetto.

I recently met a very genuine person. He is a recent Iraqi(Lebanese) immigrant to Canada (3 years) and misses his family more than many of us can imagine. I hired him to do some work in my home and at the end of the work/job, I realized I had made a new friend. He was one of the most genuine, interesting, hard-working and friendly people I have ever met. I have never been one to outwardly support Canada's immigration policies but, since meeting "Al" and hearing his story, I have developed a new compassion for some of these convention refugees. "Al" has been in Canada for the past 3 years working a minimum of 12 hours a day (as a labourer) hoping to save enough money to eventually sponsor his mother and brothers. He lives in a low-income 2 bedroom rental apartment with his wife and two children and continues to believe that he will one day reunite with the rest of his family. After some lengthy conversations, "Al" told me about his life history and his eventual immigration to Canada. By the end of his story, I had tears in my eyes and I realized that I'm damn lucky to be born and raised a Canadian. There are genuine, legitimate immigrants who choose Canada as a destination for a new, SAFE, and possibly prosperous life. People should stop lumping immigrants in to one giant category -- Get to know just one immigrant and perhaps you'll change your mind.

This article was written for readers in the US and not for those in Canada. Many Americans do not realize that Canada is more different from the US than they can even imagine.

That is likely also the case among Muslims in the US, so the article does not really refer to Canadian conditions.

    SphinxMontreal, with all due respect,
I am surprised your post has gone unchallenged due to its unsubstantiated claims

What ever gave you the impressions European immigrants to Canada some how cared about Canada and were respecters of law?
Immigrants came for the milk and honey they were told about, in other words they came for the “opportunity’, a word synonymous with greed in this context fuelled by visions of the streets paved with gold .and dreams of returning to the mother country , or fatherland after they plundered all “Canada” had to offer.
As for ghetto it is my understanding the word implies a section of a city or town into which Jews or people from a specific ethnic background or united in a given culture or religion were forcibly settled.

"By far the most difficult experience of Muslim immigrants in the West has been the aftermath of Muslim acts of political violence in their countries of residence."

The author apparently forgot to mention in this sentence that the vast majority of the violence inside Muslim nations are caused either directly or indirectly by the USA and its puppet allies.

    rearguard,
The rear part is correct. Your words are obviously coming out of your rear end.
