Martin, Bush Urged To Discuss 'NAFTA Plus'

Posted on Monday, April 26 at 21:06 by KevinGagnon

"This agenda is more important to Canada than it is to the United States, and therefore the only way it can be advanced is through fervent Canadian leadership," a senior government official said. "This is a great initiative that can strengthen Canada."

A quote from the article I would like to respond too.

"To help address these common challenges, we recommend that you support a joint initiative that would not only seek to further reduce barriers to Canada-U.S. trade and investment but would also encourage policy reforms that improve the competitiveness of North American industry as a whole."

I think what this quote means is, making policies that benefit corporations to become competitive, EVEN at the expense of enviromental concerns. This quote I think suggest Canada becoming like the U.S in how we operate from corporations to how the public is cared for. The corporations will get the upper hand in a nafta plus plan, while the lower income cab families will lose.--Kevin

Yeah it's pretty scary to think that NAFTA has reached its potential. That means that American corporations have run out of things to take over. Not much left except our water, the heath system & our banks. Wouldn't it be great if just ONE of those things was controlled by Americans? Imagine if all THREE were, we'd be in heaven!

They are talking about the proposals that the CCCE spoke to in the US on April 20, 2004. They have accepted the fact that Paulie is not going to win a majority government in the next election and so they are going to do what he has no mandate to do. Canada is going to go first in this deal with the US following at some time in the future, cause of outrage the US Houses feel about the NAFTA Chapter 11 regulations. They wouldn't get it passed at this time.

So, Paulie will give everything away now while he still can. That means open borders for labour, they can bring Mexicans in to do our work. That means open borders for products that were made anywhere but come into Canada from the US, they are negating our tariff system, thereby destoying what is left of our textile and other industries. That means open borders for products that have been inspected in the US, they won't have to do a Canadian inspection. That means open borders for US secret police and black-bag operators. We give it all and they get it all.

Now that Paulie has joined forces with George the Butcher he figures he can dispense with the honourable guy disguise. Then when Paulie gets his minority government he won't have to worry about getting the give away legislation passed. Send Paulie an e-mail today and tell him that he has no mandate to negotiate a new NAFTA give away scheme!

If there had been a regulatory union in place before the 'mad cow' crisis then the U.S. wouldn't have been able to block beef imports from Canada and the gov't would have saved over a billion dollars that could have been better spent somewhere else.

If it's like a Microsoft product there is bound to be a stack of vulnerabilities that could crash the whole thing....

Anonymous, money isn't everything. A dollar may have cents but it makes no sense.
