Other photos also demonstrate the level of violence used against the (peaceful) protestors.

Despite the violence, a good case can be made that the FTAA was defeated in Miami.

Note: What is the FTAA? backgrounder paramilitary, not police shot from behind Other photos was defeated

I really think the US media just doesn't <a href='http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/11/25/findlaw.analysis.yu.ftaa/'>Get it</a>. Some of the news is just <a href='http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20031125.wnaomi25/BNStory/International/'>scary</a><p> Although, not <a>all</a> of them are quite so <a href='http://www.nbc6.net/news/2664038/detail.html'>clueless.</a><p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

That CNN article is disturbing to say the least. The part about environmental issues especially. They claim that putting labour and environmental standards to the fore will hurt the people in the third world!

With thinking like that, I agree - they just do not get it. Actually they do get, they just want to con the gullible that their side of the story is the correct side. There simply can not be any other explanation... well there is always plain old stupidity!

I 've noticed a great shift in CNN since Turner sold it to AOL. Before the Gulf War I, it was very neutral. Now it reminds me of The National Enquirer. I want to have a shower if I watch it for more than 1/2 hour.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

Let\'s not forget the real problem with the media - they are owned by big money. The Aspers in Canada, own Global Television, The National, the Southam chain of newspapers, and then they have the nerve to insist the editorials should come from Winnipeg, not from regional sources.

CNN is highly wealth-controlled, and wealth is the force behind NAFTA and all the old and coming trade agreements. What else can they do, but print what they are told to print. Perhaps they even believe it.

I do like Lou Dobbs from time to time, but he only covers a small amount of news regarding the real problem.

Don\'t expect across-the-board coverage from any American cable news stations. Some American newspapers can be trusted but there are Americans that actually say they cross the border into Canada to get the REAL news about America.

And, yes, the police were ready in every way to confront the protesters. They were even bragging that things were much easier than they thought they were going to be. That can only mean they had much more in reserve.

    That\'s scary !!
