Ottawa. The popularity of Paul Martin's Liberals has plunged dramatically in the wake of this week's damning indictment of the federal sponsorship program, slashing the party's long-held Ontario lead and threatening its hopes in the West.

Paul Martin says, \'The Liberal Party is Not Corrupt\'...or words to that effect...So if it isn\'t corrupt what is it...inept, negligent, understaffed, overpaid, overrated, overinvestigated????What the heck is it,they either lost our money as in the HRDC boondoggle, or they miscalculated, as in the gun registry, or they can\'t read, as in the CSL scandal, and on it goes....incompetent or corrupt, which is better for the party??? Remember Sheila Copps saying after they collected the gst, they had so much money they didn\'t know what to do with it all...guess they found a place for it!

But they couldn\'t afford a sovereign nation, meaning infrastructure and military. (roll)

I think they will focus on this one scandal as long as possible to keep us from looking at the other scandals, or mismanaged funds...it isn\'t going to work, they repeat and deny themselves to often...\'we have nothing to hide\' !!! If I hear that one more time, I\'ll be sick, do they really believe we are that stupid, of course their is something to hide, if not this wouldn\'t be a scandal?! duh

I\'ve had discussions with many PC members. Many of them David Orchard supporters. These are members who were against the pc/alliance merge. Their now trying to find a new home. Many of them have this hope to resurrect that PC party, but of course there is some legal issues with using the conservative name. They found Progressive Canadian Party available and approved by elections Canada.

It would be interesting to see this party come to being with David Orchard as its leader.

Problem is, I can`t believe that many of the disenchanted voters are actually flocking to the conservatives. What`s wrong with these people? Don`t they realize that the new republicans are all for more privatization, and a greater sellout of Canada? Can`t people recognize that any party that would allow a Belinda Stronach to run is up to no good?

    Dave,

I ask those same questions. I just don\'t get it. I do think though that maybe it doesn\'t help when the majority of Canadians haven\'t read books by Mel Hurtig, Paul Hellyer and David Orchard.

If the majority of Canadians can learn some of the truths brought forward by these authors, the voter support as the polls show would be quite different today.

I believe there are three parties that would show allot of support once the public knew about these far right leaning politicians and their agenda. The three parties that you would seee a growth in support are CAP, NDP and GP.

Maybe a solution is if Mel Hurtig, Paul Hellyer and David Orchard took up MP jobs with a political party and became a voice in Parliament. Would be nice to hear their voice there.

    Dave,

I was also thinking that maybe support has been growing for the conservatives since their doing such a good job at getting into the media with the liberal scandal. NDP is talking about the wrong things in parliament. They need to balance star wars and attacking the liberals about this scandal.

The media is interested in this scandal and so are Canadians then they are of star wars at this time. Not that their not concerned with star wars, their just not interested in it as much as they are of the recent liberal scandal.

If the NDP would spend more time on this liberal scandal they would start to attract more people. They would get seen and noticed by more Canadians in parliament debates and in media.

Except for the fact that these scandals of the past are possibly connected to the scandals of the future, ie. BMD and the Lockheed Martin census; perhaps the NDP could connect all the dots for us, not just this one issue! Corruption at this level (and if you look at some others in the last 20 yrs), cannot possibly be isolated scandals!!!
