This week, Telefilm Canada announced that it has signed an agreement with Creative Artists Agency of Hollywood, to "encourage the creation of distinctively Canadian films . . ." Coming as it does in the midst of the most promising week Canadian films have ever had, the timing of the announcement is unfortunate. So is its substance. Why this loss of faith in the ability of Canadians to create for themselves?

    It's just Paul and his rat pack giving more money to US firms, there was criticism from the US that too many films were being made in Canada. Paulie couldn't have that, so it was off to Hollywood with a bag of cash. Big surprise!
