Not previously experienced or encountered; novel or unfamiliar: ideas new to her.
Different from the former or the old: the new morality.
Recently obtained or acquired: new political power; new money.
Additional; further: new sources of energy.
Recently arrived or established in a place, position, or relationship: new neighbors; a new president.
Changed for the better; rejuvenated: The nap has made a new person of me.
Being the later or latest in a sequence: a new edition.
Currently fashionable: a new dance.
New In the most recent form, period, or development.
Inexperienced or unaccustomed: new at the job; new to the trials of parenthood.
I don't think any of these apply to the Conservative government which still, almost a year-and-a-half after getting elected, still calls itself Canada's New GovernmentTM. So can we all petition to have the Conservatives stop using the phrase Canada's New Government?
It becomes sillier and more mock-worthy with each use - and, don't get me wrong, I'm all for that with silly and mock-worthy government - but it also seems childish and when they go out into the world and continue to use it, it is more than a little embarrassing for all of us and I'm embarrassed for them.
If you don't like my suggestion of "Canada's New-ish-like Government", how about one of these:
