    Very odd indeed.

    Maybe there's nothing extraterrestrial about the gas, as the meteor could have hit a toxic waste dump (I know, that's very unlikely).

    Meteors have a large Nickel content. Can be quite toxic when vapourized.

    Perhaps, but I'm sure that the effects of global warming will explain the phenomenon much better.

    Idunno man. Mercury hasn't build a Meteor since '76. I guess they were pigs back in the 60's, so they might have an effect on global warming.

    A few people living in the town of Meteor Wisconsin probably still drive Meteor's, and those old V8's were fat pigs. If one hit the earth from orbit, there's no telling what would happen.
