Let the games begin! RF By Mark Sage, PA, in New York Moves to open up the Alaska wildlife refuge to oil drilling could begin early next year, it emerged today. More money for Cheney. But hey--it'll buy the U.S. another year. :)

Perhaps that oil pipeline will have to travel through Canada as well, so we could put a dent in their plans and force them to ship it south.

Imagine the environmental damage to the Canadian environment if a 4 ft. pipe suddenly burst ? That's a whole lot of a mess that could never be cleaned up properly.

    Exxon Valdiz, anyone ???

It's about time North America developed more of its own resources. The middle east supply is threatened by fanatical Islamicism and development here would mean less money being sent there.

...for nothing but less than two years worth of oil supply.

At what cost to our environment ??

The North America you speak of is polluted beyond definition when you look at the oil fields that have already been developed.

We are in a disaster waiting to happen, and when it does, I don't want to hear any whining from those that are pro-development.

It will fall on deaf ears, but will have an enormous impact on our environment.

You cannot have it both ways.

get used to it, and wake up !!!!

Well, the thing that I find the most outrageous, is the fact that it is a wildlife preserve. Preservation, it would seem, now means 'oil savings account.'

It really defeats the whole purpose. As I am sure most people would realise!

Where are the American people standing up for their country on this one? Probably driving 2 hours to work!
