Prime Minister Paul Martin said yesterday Canada had not been approached to participate, adding it would be "very, very hard for us to respond to such a request in a substantial way at the present time."
The Washington Post reported yesterday the United States is approaching some 30 countries, asking them to contribute troops to a multilateral force that would be sent to Iraq to protect U.N. officials overseeing the June 30 transfer of authority from the U.S. to Iraq.
