Time For Tax Reform

Posted on Monday, December 22 at 15:43 by Jim Callaghan
Nobody is saying they should pay more than their share, but by broadening the tax base, we would all pay less taxes. The poorest would pay no tax at all.

Think about it: a person with an income of $8,000 per year, still has to pay income tax.

That really makes a lot of sense.

This is a good article by Carol Goar, read it in its entirety here:

For those that would like a little (?) extra reading, here is a great job at calculating a flat tax system far removed from the Canadian Alliance version.

    http://www.misterc.ca/flat_tax_model.htm

Don\'t get too excited about the fact that it is based on around 41%, look at the tables and see how it works.

It\'s called a UBI - Universal Basic Income.

Ireland has a great economy at this time, and they are looking at such a system.

It\'s big and a lot of reading, but it\'s very well done.

Too socialist. Taxes should not be paid at any level. Take the money power from the Banks, force the Government to do its Job and print currency based on the goods and services of the nation. There would be abundant money in Ottawa without the tax bleeding of Canadians.
