Mounties Never Told Spy Agency About Arar

A public inquiry conducted by Justice Dennis O'Connor recently exonerated Arar, saying he did not have any links to Islamic extremists. In his findings released Sept. 18, O'Connor concluded the RCMP passed wrong information about Arar to U.S. authorities. Zaccardelli has said he learned shortly after the deportation four years ago that the wrong information was given to the U.S. Before Elcock testified in Ottawa, Ontario Liberal MP Mark Holland said Canadians need to know exactly how information from CSIS was leaked to U.S. authorities through the RCMP about Arar. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/10/31/commmittee-arar.html [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on November 1, 2006]
