Terror Plotters Lurk In Canada, U.S. Charges

Posted on Saturday, April 29 at 17:30 by jensonj
The U.S. noted "only one person" has been arrested under anti-terrorism legislation passed in Canada after terrorist attacks in the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. A spokeswoman for Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day said Canadian officials were still reviewing the U.S. report and would not comment on its specifics. "What I can tell you is that Canada's new government believes in maintaining a vigorous counter-intelligence program to safeguard our nation's security," said Day's communications director Melisa Leclerc. "This government does not tolerate inappropriate activities and will restore our reputation as a leader and dependable partner in defending freedom and democracy in the world." The State Department's harsh language on Canada contrasted with its statements in the report of Iraq, which it said was "not currently a terrorist safe haven" despite the continued attacks carried out by al-Qaeda leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi and other groups in the country. While praising Canada for playing "an important counterterrorism leadership role worldwide" -- specifically through its military presence in Afghanistan -- the State Department said the Arar case had cast a chill over relations between the countries' intelligence agencies. Arar, an Ottawa engineer and Canadian citizen, was detained by U.S. authorities in September 2002 during a stopover in New York on a flight from Tunisia to Canada. Suspected of terrorism ties, he was sent to Syria under a policy called "extraordinary rendition." A federal inquiry into Arar's detention found he had been tortured while in Syrian custody. The U.S. says the RCMP gave them information suggesting Arar was a security risk. The ensuing controversy led to restrictions on intelligence sharing that still hamper the "free flow" of information about terror suspects, the U.S. said. Propaganda only. Unfortunately, many Americans will believe this nonsense, because they do bot have uncensored and unbiased media.

I guess George W. Bush believes these allegations himself. Which makes it tough on the new Canadian Ambassador (Michael Wilson) to keep a straight face.

    Typical USA policy:

Terrorism, Terrorism, Terrorism, Terrorism, Terrorism, Sept. 11th, Terrorism, Terrorism, Terrorism, Sept. 11th, Terrorism.

Do what we say, or else there will be more Terrorism, Terrorism, Terrorism, Sept 11th.

Reminds me of a copy of a copy of a Southern Baptist magazine somebody gave me 20 or 30 years ago. There was an article claiming that the Chinese Red Army was secretly building up and training in Canada for attacking the USA.

I may also still have a copy of the long defunct Argosy magazine that claimed that the then frequent sightings of flying saucers were Canadian, produced in secret, underground factories in Central BC.

Some of our friends and biggest trading partners may not have too much brains, but they sure make up for it with weird imagination.

Ya gotta have a bogeyman to keep the children afraid!

The Harper government and the Bush government are the living cliche "Misery loves company".

Both of these "we don't trust brown people" governments will always have shitty intelligence from the "brown" countries because who is going to give them good information when everybody hates them?

I will never believe there are foreign "terrorists" I need to fear until one actually does away with Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Tony Blair, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Karl Rove, or any other of the "Long War" advocates and supporters. These are the terrorists in my opinon, the rest are fighting for their lives. I still proclaim I'll likely be killed in a car crash or choking on a Harper/Bush retch than I ever will be by a terrorist attack. This is just more of the "Republicans love Harper" crapola. That's why the USA keeps our 1BILLION.

"a vigorous counter-intelligence program", and Stockwell Day is in charge of it.

    Talk about being type cast.

Does anyone else here see the humour in that? :P

Please name and show photos of said terrs.
If our "vigourous counter-intelligence operations"are at work this would be done. The public would be able to help find these terrs and have them arrested and imprisoned.Since this has not been done, these terrs are non existant and/or our government is part of a conspiracy to create a "terrorist" attack to inturn create a police state.Only terrs I see are in Ottawa, some para military cops, who love this kinda stuff, and our own military which is in Afghanastan illegally.
As for the Mexican "invasion",the land was originally stolen from them,so they are just taking it back. The Mexicans have not been a particularly imperialist power,so I would rather have them as neighbors then the yanks.Maybe we can then get rid of this stupid NAFTA garbage.Which raises the question; Why do the Mexicans want to come to the USA to work? Why are they not staying at home and working at all the lucrative paying jobs that NAFTA was going to bring?
This Mexican Invasion is an admission that NAFTA did not work.
