<p>Oh ya for sure, obviously Bush isn't going to ask for anyone's input, he's already got Bob Gates picked out. But on the up side, this and the loss of control in the house of reps and possibly the upper chamber as well, should indicate a more moderate administration for the next two years. <br>
Well Bush is now basically a lame duck anyway.</p>
<p>
I like these...<br>
>Admirers viewed Mr Rumsfeld as a dedicated patriot who <b>"reinvigorated a military weakened by insufficient funding in the 1990s", devised "innovative war plans that toppled the Taliban leaders of Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein"</b> in Iraq, and remained vigilant against threats to US security. <br>
America wasn't a super-power before Bush?<br>
Shock and Awe was innovative and Saddam and the Taliban fought really hard eh?
<br><br>
"STUFF happens... it's untidy, and freedom's untidy, and <b>free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things</b>" – Mr Rumsfeld, 11 April 2003, when asked about rampant lawlessness in Baghdad after the US invasion.<br>
That sounds like it could have come straight out of the Bush doctrine!</p>
<p>---<br>Everybody got to deviate from the norm
Perhaps this is just the cleansing party, you know, the part where after all the raping and pilaging is done, we all get to hug each other and go about our business picking up the peices.
What will be most telling, is if 9/11 will be criminally investigated for real, and if any of those well known treasonous war criminals serve life sentences or better yet are executed should the legitimate law allow for it. In addition, it will be most telling if the Patriot Act and other constitutionally invalid "laws" are fully repealed or left in place.
We all know Bush and gang are guilty of serious crimes, and we all know that there's heaps and piles of direct evidence for rock solid convictions, so unless heads start rolling for real then this latest election will be just another "democracy in action" dog and pony show.
Whatever happens in the US will most likely mirror what happens here, so let's hope that real trials take place, real heads roll into real buckets, and all those invalid laws are really tossed into the trash.
If not, then what the hell was that election good for?
"Anyone notice that Condi has become invisible through this whole election?"
Interesting, yes. If she's gone into hiding already, that'll serve as a very good sign that this election has real teeth, at least for the symbolic heads. I doubt any of the hidden string pullers will serve time for their crimes. How much can we hope for anyway.
Ya you're right about Condi, 4C, I never realized it but ya...
Ms. Pelosi? (unsure of name) is the new (D)Calif. speaker of the house. She was on CNN being interviewed this afternoon and the interviewer (don't know the personalities) kept talking about the Dem's right of subpeona and she kept trying to get away from it and at one point said "I don't know why we're talking about this anyway because we're a long, long way from that". It was mentioned that Cheney has already stated that both the Pres and he are protected from subpeona. That was fast eh? She almost mentioned the possibility of an "investigation" but stopped short of saying what would be investigated. She did say the "I" word but not in the context I would like to hear it. You'd think that after the Rebubs evil-spirited attempt to impeach Clinton, the Dems would be chompin' at the bit for an impeachment. But then sexual immorality has to trump mass murder of your fellow Americans (for starters).
"Ms. Pelosi? (unsure of name) is the new (D)Calif. speaker of the house."
Hmmm... Ms. does that mean she has never been married? Would it be likley that a woman of advanced age as she is would never have been married? Could there be a possibility that she is gay? Maybe.
Also, she is not the Speaker of the house yet, she can be challenged for the position by any other democrat that wants the job. Someone could oust Pelosi in a congressional bid for Speaker of the House as that position is open until February. If someone decides that Bush's impeachment is Mandatory and must happen then Pelosi is standing on a cliffs edge, especially if they can garner significant support.
The Democrats and the Republicans have the same bosses and they are the guys who own the federal reserve bank in the US and the central banks around the world. This was just a shell game and all the ballyhoo is to keep you from seeing that the third party and 911truth candidates were not elected. The election was stolen again, ooooh big surprise. All you have to do is look at who voted for what, in the house and senate, to know which side of the bread the butter is on. The Rumsfield resignation gives the appearance of change. Pelosi said before the election that there would be no impeachment. Oooh, big surprise.
Let me sum up, the crooks were in charge of the election before the election, during the election and, gasp of astonishment, after the election. The vote counting machinery was more thoroughly hacked than a microsoft operating system and the election officials integrity reminded everyone of Tammany Hall, the mainstream media was in full distraction mode throughout. Therefore the election was fair and Democrazy has once again triumphed.

Rumsfield is the sacrificial lamb. He didn't run the war in a winning mater. "Winning" is what it is all about. "Winning" in American lingo means "profit".. Rumsfield was unable to organize the war in Iraq to allow the profit gains as anticipated. Secondly, is the ego. Americans do not like to be on the loosing side and especialy if they are the main player. If the Iraqi could be sacrificed for the profit of Haliburton and "appeared" to be for their benefit, then all is well. The taxpayer can foot the bill. Unfortunatly, the profit wasn't enough and it appears the Americans can't tame Iraq. Afghanistan is the mirror image. Troops in Iraq will now be sent to Afghanistan to insure the profits and to give the appearance of a winning battle. Besides, Afghanistan can draw more support from taxpayers of other countries.
Isn't there a similarity with the Third Reich here?<br />

Werner von Blomberg resigned in 1938 as the German Minister of War (previously called the Minister of Defence).<br />
<br />
Strange to realize that he was not replaced - right through WW II, Adolf Hitler did without a Minister of War.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_von_Blomberg">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_von_Blomberg</a> <br />

So the question could be asked: Will it take 7 more years?
Whether of not you are correct in your entire assessment, one thing is for sure. Rumsfeld is a sacrificial lamb. The way I see it is that over the past couple of months, the MSM has been turning on Bush, Rummy, et al. Bush has slowly been easing up on his assertion that "we will stay the course in Iraq", Rummy is now gone and as 4C pointed out, Condi has been mysteriously distant throughout all of this. Is the party keeping her face out of this mess in preparation for '08? Is '08 going to be a race between Hilary & Condi?
Obviously, the Repubs are thinking about 2008 and yes I acknowledge that there are bigger players than the parties who pull the strings but that doesn't preclude a genuine rivalry or even vindictive behaviour between the parties. True, they seem to be buddy, buddy after the races but so were Lanny McDonald and Wayne Gretzky.
"So the question could be asked: Will it take 7 more years? "
Really good question!
It is a good day to see the corner turning on a very ugly piece of history but the worst is coming. Bush is a lame duck only if the Dems do the right thing, not just say the right things but really get the right things done. Interests who control will not likely let them, even if some of them want to.
The Dems will lamely blame Bush for the continued escalations that they let him continue to react to and the voters will get fooled into voting for the shiny new Republican candidate in 08 because the Dems in control, let it all continue.
We are looking at more than 7 years unless the right thing materializes. The right thing, can only be investigation and impeachment to really turn the corner.
I sense that Rumsfelds head has been lopped and the deal is struck in order to prevent that.
The objective continues to be the continued war. Vietnam had no oil, lost it's strategic cold war relevance over time and was still only abandoned when it became clear, not that the war couldn't be won, but that it could and was being lost. Iraq is not going to happen that way.
Defense Secretary Nominee Robert Gates Tied to Iran-Contra Scandal and the Secret Arming of Saddam Hussein<br />
<br />
President Bush nominated former CIA director Robert Gates on Wednesday to replace Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense. We take a look at Gates' role at the CIA in connection to the Iran-Contra scandal and the secret arming of Saddam Hussein with former CIA analyst Mel Goodman, who testified before the Senate in 1991 against the nomination of Gates as CIA director, and investigative journalist Bob Parry who helped expose Iran-Contra.
