National post propaganda piece if I have ever seen one. He toured a system that doesn't work as intended yet says a North Korean missile they don't possess can be shot down. Yeah, and I'm Santa Claus.

Journalists like this should be ashamed of themselves.

If there was ever a time for Canadians to become pushy - now is the time - for time is running out on this nation called Canada.

The United States believes that Canada joining Washington's proposed missile defense shield would be in Ottawa's best interests said U.S. ambassador to Canada. Canada has not been asked to supply any money or land to base missile defenses, but it has agreed to share NORAD data to help the plan, which is interesting since the U.S. government runs NORAD.

"We think it's in Canada's sovereign interest to be in the room to decide what's going to happen when there's an incoming missile," said Ambassador Paul Cellucci. There is a problem though. NORAD was set up to protect the United States from Russian missiles landing on American soil not Canada’s as stated by the US Commander of NORAD in the early 1970’s, Canada was not a consideration. This apparently came as a surprise to the Canadian Government at the time, 30 years before 911.

Nothing has change from then to now as we can see from this article. It is all about U.S. interests wants and desires not Canada’s interests, desires or security. So why would anyone think that Canada would have any say on it now.

It is all about American interests wants and desires not Canadian sovereignty, interests or security.

The more likelihood is, any missile would head for the USA and Canadians will watch. Americans have created so many enemies that even Canada can't keep track of them. 911 was an example where most asked the question: Who did the US piss off so badly, that someone would do such a thing?"

"if a North Korean missile were headed for Vancouver, ..."

Hold on there, why in Gods name would a Korean missile be aimed towards Canada????? Not only is there absolutely no reason for such a thing to happen, but the North Korean government does not even have the capability. I'm much more worried about the redneck fundamentalist fascists down south - they do have nuclear missiles and are the only nation in our history to have used them - murdering thousands of innocent civilians just for the hell of it.

"... the United States would almost certainly shoot it down."

How in the hell will the US government shoot a missile down when their silly missile defense system is nothing but a very expensive pipe dream?

America's civilian infrastructure is crumbling, its society debates evolution vs creationism, and it elected an idiot sociopath as their supreme leader - not once but twice! I doubt they'll last another 50 years or so, which is the time they'll need to perfect such a system and only if we ignore advances in countermeasures.

I'll take my chances with a NK missile any day over anything the Americans claim to offer.

The attack won't come from N. Korea, it will come from China, and I think Canada should stay the hell out of the way while those two slug it out. The Amerikan Empire would like nothing better than to use Canada as a soft shield while slugging it out with China.

The defense shield is clear indication that the US is preparing for the Third World War, a war likely to be fought against China and a re-vitalised Russia. If we get in the way we will end up as radioactive dust.

We could bring China to its knees simply by refusing to buy their toxic junk. As for Russia, we should ally with them in opposing the American war mongers who are clearly insane.

I agree with most of the posts above, but one thing I think we should realize: Don`t just blame China for toxic toys. Blame the countless American, Canadian, and other corporations who chose to set up shop in China! You can`t blame the average Chinese person for what their government, and the big international corporations, do as far as taking advantage of cheap labour, lax pollution standards, and shoddy health and safety.

Mr. Goold you are a piece of NWO boot-licking trash. Your suggestion that North Korea would fire anything at Vancouver is absurd.

"You can`t blame the average Chinese person for what their government, and the big international corporations, do as far as taking advantage of cheap labour, lax pollution standards, and shoddy health and safety."

I don't blame the average Chinese citizen, but they alone are the only ones who can fix the mess that they alone have created for themselves.

In the same light, we are responsible for fixing the mess we alone are responsible for creating here at home. Half the battle is won due to our obvious disdain for the American government and what it now stands for. If only the American people would wake up and fix their backyard mess, then everyone would be in much better shape.

Perhaps what Canadians should fear the most, is friendly fire. Americans are well suited to do that.
