New Poll Reflects Growing U.S. Worry Over Iraq

The Bush administration insists that Iraq is on the road to establishing a democracy that would help bring about peace, but the president's credibility on Iraq has been slowly eroding among the U.S. public in recent months amid a continuing bloody insurgency. Asked whether the United States was meeting its objectives in Iraq, 56 percent in the poll said the United States was not while 39 percent said it was. The findings were based on a random sample of 1,004 adults over the age of 18 who were interviewed between June 1 and June 13, 2005, before a surge of violence in Iraq in recent weeks. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points. http://ca.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=topNews&storyID=2005-08-16T164451Z_01_KNE660296_RTRIDST_0_NEWS-BUSH-FOREIGN-POLL-C-COL.XML

And your obsession with the USA, its vocal citzens and actions in Iraq impact Canada exactly... how? All you are proving is that Americans make better protesters against their elected government than Canadians ever can against their own. So, by proxy, you get to bitch about a country you don't live in, while fearful of talking about your own deep-seated corrupt figureheads.

Do you post such things just to feel smug and sanctimonious?

As has been repeated ad nauseum, any country that would invade a sovereign country in the middle east could potentially do the same in north america. Any actions by such a dangerous rogue state are worth watching, *especially* if they are your closest neighbour and you have oil reserves.

I think this is what is needed, the public to start demanding some answers from their government, once they get some, maybe the rest of the world will too!

If I stand for my country today...will my country be here to stand for me tomorrow?
