Russian Scientists Say The Arctic Is Theirs

Posted on Friday, June 29 at 15:59 by drcaleb
By identifying a geological link between the continental shelf abutting Russia’s Far North and the North pole by way of a sea-floor feature called the Lomonosov Ridge, Russia could reportedly press a claim to roughly 460,000 square miles of ocean as its territorial waters — an area whose size approaches the Mexican Cession (529,189 square miles), which added Texas, California and states in between to the United States. (Still short of the Louisiana Purchase’s 828,000, though.) And Russia wouldn’t be paying a ruble for it, either. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/06/28/whats-the-russian-for-santas-workshop/ http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2005/10/09/international/20051010_ARCTIC_GRAPHIC_2.html http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42433000/gif/_42433630_arctic_ice_map416_3.gif http://www.guardian.co.uk/russia/article/0,,2113289,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=networkfront

To hell with those Russian scientists, I say the Arctic is all mine!!!! All I need is the military might at my command, then I could to prove it scientifically.

In all fairness to the Russians, I`d say they own a big chunk of the Arctic, but SO DO WE!

Once upon a time, the entire world was linked up into a single massive continent, therefore Canada owns the entire world! All that we need is enough military might to make the scientific and legal case stick.

    Muaaahahahahahah!

As I have said many times before on this site, Canada has to start to protect and defend our sovereignty and territory.

We all agree we need police to defend and maintain law and order, we put alarms on our property and we lock our doors. We do this because there is always someone out there willing to take, steal, trash and even kill to do as they want with no consideration as to the rights of others legally or otherwise.

Recently we had the U.S. Government openly stating and debating that America should stop Canada from having control over its northern, Arctic and water territories. The U.S. Ambassador to Canada has pushed this stance here in Canada publicly and with the Government and has stated that the U.S. has rights to that area if not due to sovereignty then to prevent the undermining of U.S. national security and the security of North America.

Canada has done nothing more then spit out words and stumped its feet. First it was Sweden and Denmark, then the U.S.A and now it is Russia. Its time to build a Military, Air Force and Navy that can defend Canada protecting and defend our sovereignty and territory instead of the U.S.A.

<blockquote> Canada has to start to protect and defend our sovereignty and territory. </blockquote>Naw! That's take too long (and our soldiers would look awfully silly, running around the Arctic now that they just got used to desert fatigues). I think we should ally ourselves with the Russians, as between us and them, we own more Arctic than Denmark, Sweden, and the US combined............. <p>---<br>"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." <br />
