British Columbia: The Grits polled 28% in 1993 and 2000, 29% in 1997 and 2004. So in the province with the most bitterly divided Liberal party in Canada, one gang kicked out another gang to produce a nearly-identical result. Tout ça pour ça?

Makes you wonder why so many in Alberta have accepted the conservative path in that province. I would like to know the voter turnout in that province though. I wonder if maybe the majority if they did vote that maybe they would vote anyone other then Conservative. I don't know really cause I don't live there.

In addition to lower voter turnout, another significant factor in the Alberta provincial electoral results is the design of the ridings. Because of the way the ridings are laid out (# of voters per riding), an urban vote carries less weight than a rural vote. Considered over all, I believe it works out to 1 rural vote = 1.5 urban votes. Our Tory "rulers" like to try to put a bit of rural with the urban ridings where ever possible. This has the effect of watering down the impact of the urban tendency to vote liberal or NDP, given a credible candidate.
