Officials from the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Canada also discussed the impact of higher energy prices on global economic growth and inflation as well as achieving more transparency in energy market price signals.
"Properly functioning energy markets are considered very important," Goodale said. "There are concerns the forces of competition are not present in some parts of the world."
Ministers and central bankers turned their attention on Saturday morning to reforming the International Monetary Fund and agreed that China and South Korean were "clearly under- represented."
"In order to be relevant and of continuing importance the IMF needs reform," Goodale said.
