The U.S.-based retailer, the world's largest company, has been embroiled in union conflicts across Canada in recent years. The retailer closed the store, citing financial reasons, before a collective agreement with the union could be reached. Wal-Mart is the world's biggest retailer with more than 4,000 stores. In Canada, the company operates about 268 stores and employs more than 70,000 people. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060704.wwalmart0704/BNStory/Business/home
