The system works thanks to an emergency protocol that helps diagnose a certain kind of heart attack before the patient even gets to a hospital.
Yesterday, when he wasn't performing angioplasties at the heart institute, lead author Dr. Michel Le May was fielding calls from doctors and medical journalists from all over the world.
"The article in the New England Journal of Medicine will make a lot of big waves," said Dr. Le May, director of the institute's coronary care unit.
"We're getting world attention. We're on the map, big time."
