Interview Questions

Why are you interested in volunteering for Vive le Canada? Are you comfortable communicating mainly via email? How often do you generally check email? Are you familiar with IRC? Are you comfortable using it for meetings (or willing to learn)? Are you familiar with online financial sites like PayPal? Do you feel confident in your ability to use such sites? Do you feel confident in your ability to keep track of accounts payable and receivable in a competent manner? Why do you feel that you will be able to handle this well? If you were the treasurer for Vive le Canada, how would you ensure that the financial information you would handle would be communicated regularly and safely to the rest of the board? (How would you ensure that members of the board with only basic knowledge of accounting and finance are kept properly up to speed on Vive's finances?) How would you budget (forecast) our scenario for 1 month, 1 year? How would you suggest that we deal with security issues that may arise from mainly communicating online and from a distance? Would you describe yourself as a trustworthy person? Could you give us an example of an experience you've had in the past in which you feel you demonstrated your trustworthiness? (Maybe for a previous employer, or a friend) Since we are still in the process of incorporating Vive le Canada, and have had a very small to non-existent budget so far, we have not yet set up financial structures for the organization. Are you willing and able to help us do this? (Set up a bank account, etc). What do you know, if anything, about the particular financial/accounting needs of non-profits? Are you willing to learn what you don't already know? If some sort of accounting problem developed, or if you encountered something that you don't think it's within your experience to address, what would you do? Can you give us an example of an instance in the past in which you had to deal with conflict? What did you do? Do you wish you had handled things any differently? What kind of time do you have to devote to this project? Will you be able to balance this commitment with other commitments you may have such as school or a job? (How?)
