CBC Plans Big Boost In Local Programming

In a major reverse of strategy, the public broadcaster plans to beef up local and regional programming.

On TV, the plan calls for a return to the 60-minute local supperhour news shows that were cut in fall 2000 as well as adding a 30-minute weekly cultural affairs program in 10 cities. Late night and weekend local news reports would also be brought back.
