Mel Hurtig's Ryerson Speech Videos

Posted on Tuesday, December 09 at 16:22 by sthompson
I hasten to add that I am not in any way connected to the financial aspects of this endeavour.

The video and/or VCD can be ordered directly from John at johnr@pathcom.com or by mail at 15 Walmer Rd., Apt 102, Toronto M5R 2X1. John's phone # in Toronto is (416) 961-5990.

John says it's cheap and easy to make and mail the VCD, so he's only charging $10 (including post) for same. But, the VHS cassettes are much more costly and the mail costs much higher, so he's charging $17.50 for these.

Either way, they are great for coffee clubs, teachers, nationalists of all sizes and descriptions, and those thinking ahead to the 2004 federal election.

My suggestion is that several people can get together to put up the $ for a disc or tape, share it, then pass it along to others for further circulation. It should prove to be a valuable tool for our cause.

Just in case my comment was mis-interpreted, I am looking forward to the video so I can get my friends and family together and watch it.

I am trying very hard to convince these people that we, as a country, are going down the drain, but they don\'t seem to see what my point is.

As Paul Hellyer said in one of his books, \"when I start talking in monetary terms, their eyes glaze over\".

    I experience the same thing.

I am hoping this video will at least get them thinking. I can loan them my books, but no guarantee they will read them.

This is the best of both worlds, as I can then get a discussion going after the video.

I\'m hoping it will make a difference.

I think it is difficult to convince people about these things. Most of them think globalization is the future and unavoidable and the best. And most of these stories about foreign ownership don\'t even get talked about in the news so what do you expect. I mean if talk of the Bay being sold doesn\'t make people think twice about who to vote for than nothing else will.

Unless there is an NDP progressive coalition, and Layton talks about these things, nobody will hear these things.

I can only hope that Jack Layton will consider Paul Hellyer\'s option to merge like-minded parties, but I am not going to hold my breath.

It would be good for Canada, and give us a more centrist party, but they are up to 15% in the polls, and that may make them think they have at least a chance to become a part of a minority Liberal government.

I\'m not sure about that. They need more support, but they also have to change their style and constitution a bit before I will bite.

I ordered my copy the other day. John Riddel was kind enough to send me a VCD before I actually paid for it. I'm looking forward to watching it. I will make sure to share the video with others as well.
Kevin Gagnon
My Home Page
