The McKenna File

It's hard to have a warm fuzzy feeling about anyone in this Liberal caucus or anyone they appoint. Too many of them feel like they could care less about the state of the world, Canada or their own kin. It's just a group of wealthy men playing Moneyopoly and the competition and the game are the only things that mean anything to them. www.ceasefire.ca

It appears possible to buy a government minister with a few pizzas. Imagine when large money is involved. There is a similarity to the corruption that reigns in Russia, also a country where one party is in perpetual control of the government.

I called CBC Newsworld last Friday, to answer the question 'Will Frank McKenna make a good ambassador in Washington?' Of course, my answer was similar to what`s pointed out here, as I mentioned his connections to the Carlyle Group and such. I also mentioned how this appointment was just another yes man being put in to cement the appeasement of the USA. After my time was done, the mentally colonized Henry Champ claimed that no, McKenna, through his connections, is the ideal guy to have in Washington to get a better deal for Canada and quell the fires that currently burn in Canada -US relations. I do sense that Champ really knows the truth, but of course, those media types can`t utter anything 'controversial.'

I have already expressed my chagrin over Mr. McKenna's appointment. Nothing I have heard in the past week in any way changes that. I agree with the other writer that today's governments very much resemble a group of overly rich men playing children's games, without caring in the least how any one else may affected by their actions. The failure of the CBC (or any other mainstream media) to consider dissenting views, or even to fully explore an issue, is just par for the course. Indeed, the CBC is better than most others. I expect nothing more.

The question is "how can we change this?" People organize and vote at election time. Parties ebb and flow, legislators come and go, but nothing much changes. Untold thousands demonstrate in the streets, a few are "worked over by the system", otherwise nothing changes. We post article after article on this and other websites, until surely we have convinced ourselves that our causes are just, but nothing changes. We donate thousands of dollars to "progressive" political organizations. Every now and again, a group disappears in a cloud of confusion or bad debt. We wonder where the money went, but nothing changes. Another day brings another appointment like this, eulogized by self-styled opinion makers.

We do all this because we want a better Canada, and believe a better Canada is possible. But how? We need new ideas, leadership, unity and more. Like so many others I live every day in hope. But despair is always at hand. Is there anyone out there who can help?

The Conservative Party of Canada can help. Vote for them in the next election and we will finally be able to get rid of these awful Liberals who don't care about Canada or Canadians as long as they retain power.

    The Conservative Dream!

Beware of ANY political party suggesting they can save you. That's what Hitler told the disenfanchised.

Anon above, why do we need *someone* to help us?

Help yourself! Get involved in a political party and start working toward what you want. There are no saviours and if you keep thinking you need one you will always be disappointed with the one you get. Save yourself from saviours!

Oh yeah, the Cons will do wonders for Canadian sovereignty. Harper will sell Canada down the river faster then he can say "I love the USA!"

It is only the Canadian Action Party that has Canadian sovereignty on their agenda. Unfortunately they have languised in obscurity for far too long now.

Mr. McKenna would be their first choice as well! What difference would they make? Well, other than giving us the middle finger while doing it, there is little difference between the bad elements of the liberal party, and the best of the CONservatives.

Feeling as you do, it's time for you to ignore politics altogether. That would include not posting on obscure blogs.

I agree the CAP is the only hope for Canada at present. Unfortunately, since the retirement of Paul Hellyer as leader not much has been happening as far as i can see. I think a movement should be started to get David Orcher involved as leader of this party.

To anyone who pays attention to the Bilderberg group this appointment should not have come as a surprise. To those unfamiliar, the Bilderbergers are an elite group that meet anually to debate whatever. There is neither a published agenda nor meeting minutes. Check out the link http://www.bilderberg.org/2004.htm and you will see Frank on the list (he was one of three Canadians invited). Co-incidentally, Kerry running mate John Edwards was there too.

Did you know that McKenna was also on the Board of Directors for CanWest Global? That aught to get the conspiracy people churning in their bunkers.

I don't usually respond more than once on any topic, but the series of comments on my McKenna comment align themselves so neatly, I could not resist the opportunity. First, to the writer who suggested that I vote Conservative, I must say I have tried that...twice. I voted for Brian Mulroney after he swore free trade would be a tragedy. I got NAFTA and the onset of the neo-con curse that still plagues us today. Still hoping for the great anti-Liberal, I voted for Mike Harris in Ontario. I got social warfare, dead bodies in Ipperwash and Walkerton, wrecked public services and a huge deficit. I may be slow, but I am not going there again.

To him or her who suggested that I join a political party, and also to the promoters of the Canadian Action Party, I must point out that I too very much like the policies of the CAP. I have been trying to contact that party since the election with a view to joining. Their web-site hasn't been updated since June 2004. Their e-mail boxes are full and won't accept any more communications. Former employees all disavow any current connection with the party. People are posting articles on the world wide web claiming that the party refuses to pay its bills. Good ideas or not, its hard to join up with that bunch. I still might though, if they clean up their act, because they had the right ideas. To that other guy, no, I am not going away until we realize the better Canada we all wish for.

I am not seeking a messiah. I am more than willing to do my share and maybe a bit more. But I'm tired of wasting my time. And in this society, with cult figures from sports and entertainment monolopizing much of the media spotlight (e.g. an actor as governor of California) I think a charismatic and capable leader might be one of the first steps on the road back for us badly marginalized people who care about our future.

Vote for the conservatives ? Are you joking? That`s like letting a pedophile run the daycare!
