Mel Speaking On Star Wars

Frank Cunningham, Innis Principal has been kind enough to approve these arrangements and I am very grateful to him. He is also suggesting a modest tea/coffee reception after the talk and q&a. Also, thanks to him I believe Canadian Studies will be alerted, and Science for Peace.

Geoff Whitlock has agreed to help coordinate volunteers who will try to get a crowd out. You can reach Geoff at geoff@capturelife.ca or (416) 841-6112. Needless to say, I would be most grateful for any help you can give him so it would be great if you could call him and of course let as many people as possible know about the talk.

While there is a chance that the hall costs will be covered, we will need help putting up posters on campus and otherwise publicizing the event. Some of you have already volunteered help. but it would be great if you could contact Geoff directly.

As for the Arts and Letters Club dinner the night before, they have written to Kevin Peck that their capacity is only 100 and they are reasonably certain to fill it.

By the way, although I have to finish my new book by the end of this month, McClelland and Stewart won't likely be able to publish until May. My goal is to try to get it out before the election which will almost certainly be mid-May, although the book will be most relevant for many months or years after the election. This book will certainly be one of the most important I have written, if not THE most important, with profound implications for the future of our country.

I think you will be able to agree with me after my talk that the Martin government's position on Bush's Star Wars is very, very scary.

Sad for me I won\'t be able to make it, since I\'m 8 hours north and I have a job. I can only take weekends off. Tuesday is a bad day. Too bad cause I\'ve been really looking forward to meeting Mel and hearing him speak.

I guess I\'ll just have to wait until the vivelecanada get together in the spring, where hopefully Mel Hurtig will be there.

Dear Mel, They are doing this right now-they have killed people and they are bombarding people with radiation from these satellites which have cameras on them that can follow you around twenty four hours a day. It is also equipped with a radio transistor listening device. They have perfected the targetting device and have already "zapped" people. Please I beg of you to stop them - The laws of this land are only as good as people's willingness to defend them but Canadians are to busy shopping to see what's down the road. I wish I could tell you how to make people care! They say if there is only one good man left the rest of us can be saved. Please make them listen!
