R.I.P. US Democracy

Posted on Tuesday, May 16 at 07:27 by Patm
Other sources have told us that phone calls and contacts by reporters for ABC News, along with the New York Times and the Washington Post, are being examined as part of a widespread CIA leak investigation. One former official was asked to sign a document stating he was not a confidential source for New York Times reporter James Risen. Our reports on the CIA's secret prisons in Romania and Poland were known to have upset CIA officials. The CIA asked for an FBI investigation of leaks of classified information following those reports. http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/05/federal_source_.html What little of the "Free Press" was left in the United States has just died. Without a free press, there is no real freedom, no real democracy - only despotism.

Great quote from a different message board:

"Every time some paranoid whacko comes up with another conspiracy theory about this government, then turn out to be right!".

Well said. I think the US is spiralling around the drain right now. I'm quite sure the people of the USA won't have much choice in whoever replaces Bush. (Not that they had much choice to begin with.) They got to pick one college frat boy, or his buddy from the same frat. And they think they have a democracy. WOW. Just... WOW.

You think that's a wow, try this on for size: from what I've been able to find out, Kerry and Bush are cousins.

If there was ever proof that inbreeding produces inferior offspring, that has to be it.

If I'm wrong, someone correct me.

So are there any credible sources, or is this just rumour?

In Canada we now have a government/PM who determines what information the media is privy to. Meetings behind closed doors would most likely occur after the room was debugged. Our PM keeps a tight lid on government activities and the media fed whatever story deems fit. We have already heard from the grapevin that Canada is indeed part of the missile defence plan OR are we? This government can remain squeeky clean as long as the media can't discover any misdeeds. When it's time for Harper and his party to meet the voters again, few will know anything about him or what his government has done. BCs Premier, G Campbell had been forced to allow the "Freedom of Information Act" to remain. He was only attempting to do what Harper is implementing. Of course Campbell don't have to release the information for free. He has already set a pretty high price for anyone to know who BCs worse polluters are.

The present economic system of super legal rights given to a special interest sector, legalizing the forced collectivization and the expropriation of human rights and properties could and can not exist, or survive, in a free democracy.

This is what the whole story is about: When a person or corporation can simply take away the rights and incomes of large numbers of people and destroy the ecology to divert benefits into their own pockets, it is not democracy, but fascism. Even if they, falsely, call it "free enterprise".

And the control of information has always been the the most important weapon in the hands of all ruling classes in history. Without such control the privileges would disappear. The American responses to the story are the best proof how brainwash can be used as people and benefit control.
