U.S. ranchers threaten trade challenge, Canadian farmers celebrate $1-billion aid package

EDMONTON - American ranchers warn they will launch a significant trade challenge to the Canadian government's $1-billion bailout of the cattle industry if the subsidies undercut U.S. beef sales.

    Wait a second... they can close their borders to our beef, resulting in huge losses to Canadian farmers. But when the government bails out the Canadian farmers, the US files a complaint against Canada for subsidizing? It was the US government's policies that did the damage in the first place.

    Grrrr... damn double standards.

    We really have to tell them to 'pee off', enough already, they are obviously attempting to kill the Canadian economy anyway they can!

    More hypocrisy! The US has been doing this same "bailing out" for its steel
    industry.

    That's the FTA and NAFTA for you.

    The WTO should step in here, but I'll wait and see on that one.

    Free Trade Sucks !! Fair trade is the way.

    This is exactly why NAFTA should be scraped. Want to make any bets that absolutely nothing changes as a result of that great ruling in Canada's favour on softwood lumber. That's what, the forth or fifth one in our favour and what has changed? NOT much.
