39 Silent MPs

Posted on Tuesday, March 14 at 09:12 by DaveC
What of the 39 re elected Conservative MPs that voted in support of the MP floor-crossing prohibition bill, bill C-251? Thirty-nine are now silent. Is this the kind of party the conservatives are now, a party where MPs shut up and sit on their hands and don't say what they believe? A party that used to support voters rights, the rights of constituents and now that the party's in power principals go out the window? Why are they not speaking up on the David Emerson issue? It is clearly wrong, clearly against their ethics and beliefs and clearly not what the voters of Vancouver kingsway wanted. More than 20,000 in the Vancouver area have chosen not to remain silent on this issue, have a look at the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?RDE and read the comments. "The Silent 39" These 39 MPs are now proving themselves very questionable value to their constituents as they will sit on their hands when it comes to question of ethics. They believe the Emerson switch was wrong, yet they believe in silence. Tick tock tick tock...

Hear that Mr.Harper? That's the sound of time slipping away for your administration.

    Enjoy it while you can...

"time slipping away for your administration." How was this determined? Consistent polls have shown solid support for the Tories since Harper formed his cabinet, while it has been the Liberals who have been dropping in the polls. While I don't fully defend the Emerson appointment, it's a little naïve to see it as causing the fall of his government. Give the Tories a chance to govern, then in a year or so, we can take a step back and be in a better position to judge them with all their failures and successes.

I think Deacon has made the call based on the Neocons Failures and Successes so far... ooppss, no Sucesses but only Failures. Failures to the Canadian People.

Partisan Politics and short terms will bring this country to its knees. They are no different than all the other parties in they only make politics to get elected in the next term. No long term visions for Canada. We need more than electoral reforms we need a new system for the people and we need it fast.

i dealt with one of these clowns personally in an issue i had with federal entities and he was useless.

if any of the others in this list are the least bit like him,it's small wonder nothing is said or done.

wait til ,they get to the trough though...i know some are already counting off the minutes til their pensions kick in.the old "is it quittin time yet, clock watchers".

I'm not saying it will be the cause of the Harper governments fall.

What I am saying is that they are living on borrowed time.

Their arrogance, and complete disregard for anything even approaching an "ethical stand" will do them.

Once the Liberals get a decent leader in place, and can concentrate on Harper and his government with their full attention, the Tories' "popularity" such as it is, will drop faster than it takes to blink twice.

Even a bad leader is more popular than none at all.
