A DIFFERENT type of election sign war is raging in the riding of Richmond Hill. Conservative Peter Merrifield says 500 to 600 of his signs were replaced last week by a candidate whose fringe group may confuse voters into thinking the Progressive Conservative Party still lives.

New Democrat Nella Cotrupi and incumbent two-term Liberal Bryon Wilfert also say they had signs trashed and some replaced.

    I thought that defacing or trashing a sign was consider an offence under the crimal code? It would be interesting to see if they have anyone on camera removing or defacing signs, in Calgary they caught a few people.
