fwd:

Ipsos-Reid usually gave the old Alliance stronger numbers than Leger but has just posted a poll that shows thing have really slowed down for the "new" Party. When you look at the numbers remember that there are high corresponding unfavourables which means that when a leader is chosen support is likely to drop even further.

These Ipsos polls give me hope that the NDP will do much better this upcoming election then previous years. It seems that the NDP will be looked at by Canadians as an alternative to the Liberals, while the new conservative party will only get some of their old votes and keep them behind the NDP. This is just my opinion of course.
Some more Ipsos polls for Canada:
More Ipsos Polls For Canada

So from what I can tell, old, wealthy, men generally are the people voting concervative. On all accounts that\'s why I never have I guess.

    4canada,

You noticed that age group voting conservative. I noticed that too. I wonder if that means the younger generation would choose to vote NDP if they understood where they stood. The NDP has not done enough in focusing on the young crowd (IMO).

I guess CAP hasn\'t either. These parties need to get out there and talk to these young voters. Maybe the decline in voting is cause nowone is helping young voters understand the importance.

Personally, I think the wealthy have more to do with it than age, but yes, older people usually have more savings because they have simply been around longer and have had high-paying jobs, plus a good financial advisor.

The thing that blows my mind is taxes, we are not asking them to pay taxes on their savings, just their income, like the rest of us.

Heck, (heck ?) I have a friend that earns $50k and pays $10k in taxes. If everyone paid their share, we would have more money for social programs, but the loopholes really tick me off.

I also think that some of the older generation, that has money today, are those that benefitted from some of the social programs that were set in place after WWII. Another thing most of them will tell you is that they didn\'t buy on credit, except the mortgage. They waited for new furniture etc, until they could pay cash so they weren\'t tied into these high interest rates as much of today\'s consumers are and unfortunately will be paying for a long time.

Why many of them are voting conservative may change, with the new party. For many voters in this country, they vote the way their parents voted, no real thought goes into it, I know people in their 40\'s who have always voted Liberal because Dad did, they have Dad\'s picture with several prominent Liberals hanging in the living room. Ask them what the liberals stand for, you might get \'we don\'t discuss politics\'. Well I think I know why, they really don\'t know anything about politics, just that the family votes for a certain party, it\'s tradition. Well the conservative tradition has just changed, that party is no more! Thankfully.

Next on the list is the Lieberals. They are already in-fighting, between the Chretien loyalists that refuse to leave politics and the Martinites. Chantal Hebert has written that if Martin does poorly in the next election, the wheels to replace him will start rolling right after the vote.

I love it when a plan comes together !!

That would be two down !
