Tories Not A Sure Bet In Ontario

The surcharge is based on income and ranges from $300 per family to $900. It was brought in by Premier Dalton McGuinty to deal with the provincial deficit, and is a tax by any other name.

Trouble is, McGuinty came to power last fall with a promise that there would be no new taxes. Voters read his lips and remember his words, and now are reportedly apoplectic at his government?s hypocrisy.

Well I think the whole country has a reason to be angry at the Liberals, and Martin was a big part of many of the policies which have hurt Canadians. The idea that they are somehow different now, or that they can be trusted in the future, is ridiculous, it's like telling a criminal that what they did in the past is forgiven, no penalties and in fact we'll pay you to take another stab at the job! No way, why on earth would we give them the job with their record on gun registry, HRDC 'boondoggle', sponsorship scandal, EI mishandling, not to mention, the promises they broke like getting rid of gst, renegotiating the free trade deals etc. Then there are all the other trade deals that they have not handled, like softwood lumber and BSE!

Way too much water under their bridge as far as I'm concerned in Ontario and across Canada. No I think a decade of chances are a few years too many. I would rather take my chances with a party that appears to be willing to tell the truth and be elected on the truth no rhetoric, so far Layton and the NDP's seems to be on the right track.

I wasn't convinced before and I truly wish CAP had enough money, candidates and media to have been a party of choice this time around, but after listening to Layton and seeing his direct attitude, I believe he can and will stand for Canada.

If I stand for my country today...will my country be here to stand for me tomorrow?

Of course there's no sure bet, a lot could happen in 3 weeks, but hopefully Conservative support will remain strong. An economist for Prime Minister is an excellent idea and about time because Canadians won't be able to afford limousine liberals in the future at the rate they're stealing and squandering our money today. The 'rebellious teenager' analogy from this article is a bit condescending towards taxpayers in Ontario. Alberta and Ontario pay the freight in this country, the federal Liberals have designed policy so that the other provinces are beholden to the federal government using money from these two provinces and taxpayers are rightfully peeved about this. If Ontarions believe they deserve their own money - they'll vote Conservative.
