(This is one of the worst - one-sided - pro-american articles I have yet seen from these people!)

You know I am open to having anyone say just about anything about whatever they want, but what really bothers me most about this article is the corporate slogan of theirs -

    Your Canada.
    Your Post.

Write what you like but dont pretend to stand for Canada when you very clearly do not.

If there was ever a time for Canadians to become pushy - now is the time - for time is running out on this nation called Canada.

That lady makes me think of Ann Coulter & her 2 books, Slander & Treason about \'liberal lies about the American right\' etc.

<i>Write what you like but dont pretend to stand for Canada when you very clearly do not.</i><p> I assume you mean the Post here... I find they have some really good articles. And like any paper, have some really bad ones.<p> Two examples:<br> <a href='http://www.nationalpost.com/commentary/story.html?id=5413F991-373D-4088-8AE3-8C76771214A0'>The Alberta Agenda.</a><br> <a href='http://www.nationalpost.com/commentary/story.html?id=6734BE52-205F-4A3E-AC92-232BE95E0D73'>Why the Alberta Agenda</a> isn't good for the rest of Canada, not all that good for Alberta. I enjoy reading Mark Milke. He's got some good stuff.<p> I find any paper, the Globe, the CBC, and that rag Toronto Star, all have some good thought provoking discussion, and some sensationalist crap. There's no reporting that will meet the views of all Canadians, but a few that will meet the eyes of most. If I'm wrong, why has CanWest Global gotten so big in the last 5 years?<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

Why not just dissolve the country? What\'s the point of having a federal government if all this happens?

I saw Ann Coulter on Larry King, what a pathetic excuse for a writer. She doesn\'t care if she writes the truth, she is adamant that her research is correct, even when it is obviously not, if she writes it then she believes it! It is truth because she said so. It seems that because she is so aggressive no one takes her to task, and probably because she is currently writing what the republicans like, she is free to keep on writing very bias books, best sellers no less!

<i>Why not just dissolve the country?</i><p> That's rather a drastic solution.<p> What's wrong with streamlining CPP? EI reform? Senate reform? Getting rid of the Gun Registry? Wouldn't a leaner more efficient government that is responsive to the people be of benefit to all Canadians?<p> Or do you just not like it because it's a Alberta/Reform/Alliance/Klein idea?<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

I think that what I like best about the Post (other than the fact that it dosen\'t end up in my living room too often) is that they can decry the behaviour of the British press on the very paper that they behave with all the hubris and rhetoric of any other member of the gutter press. At least there is a transparancy to their antics. I knew I wouldn\'t like the paper when the very first issue had a picture of an old American space hero on it. What a way to start a Canadian paper.

Streamling CPP - no problem, unless this means less money for people who have paid in.

EI reform - the sooner the better, and it\'s starting to happen

Senate Reform - I guess I\'d have to go along with you on that, but it\'s funny - when the Senate came out with its report calling for the complete legalization of marijuana, a policy I passionately support, I realized they could only do so because they ARN\'T elected. Our polititians have become so fearful of backlash that they are afraid to speak any truth which will alienate any identifiable sector of the populace. It seems very good, to me, to have a senior body of government with some authority, which is relatively impervious to short term political considerations. Not undemocratic, I think, but wise and a subtle but important necessary refinement of democracy - which is much more, of course than the simple rule of the majority. Our new Senate will have to perform this function, for me to support it.

In terms of realpolitik of course, Senate Reform is a long way off, because it involves the re-opening of the Constitution for amendment, with all the inter-Provincial bickering and mayhem that implies. A simpler solution may be proposed by Martin - I wonder if you would support it? The Prime Minister would be committed to choose Senate appointments from a list supplied by Provincial and Territorial Premiers.

Gun Registry ? Two or three more kids killed by gunfire in TO this weekend. Are you really against gun control, however bureaucratically inefficient it may be? The alternative seems too grisly to contemplate.

Wouldn\'t a \"leaner more efficient\" government be more beneficial to all Canadians? Who in their right mind could disagree with this and place themselves in a position of supporting inefficiency and fattness? I think it\'s a little more complicated than that.
