I think people forget that global warming isn\'t just supposed to cause warmer temperatures--it\'s supposed to cause extreme weather conditions as the climate changes.

In other words, just because it\'s snowing doesn\'t mean that the greenhouse effect isn\'t happening.

And by the way, BRR! -44 without windchill in my area today.

    sthompson,

Its only -15 here. So you got me beat. We did a week ago hit around -50 with the windchill. Personally the cold doesn\'t bother me much. I can deal with it easily.

You know as much as we may be freezing our butts off; we are still quite fortunate, as yet we still have energy to heat our homes; think of the poor buggers out in this cold...or living with the other rages of the climate change, like the fires in B.C., the ice storms, and no power, the hurricanes in Nova Scotia and PEI. Canada and the entire world has seen some very disturbing weather patterns in the last few years, I hope they are wrong, but I think we would be wise to stop the green house emissions anyway. What is the down side to curbing our wasteful, polluting ways, what would be the down side to using wind power, more efficient vehicles etc?

More important the people who have been poverty stricken since the Mulroney government did the cut backs. These are thousands of people who now are on the street living out this cold.

Here in the niagara peninsula the coldest we arrived at this winter was -24 with a -35 windchill. Today we`re at about -8, but we have a fair bit of snow. Yeah, I believe global warming is a threat. There`s no way that what humans have done since the beginning of the industrial revolution hasn`t affected weather patterns.

Plus eight here with no rain!

I read another study this week that said England could be facing an ice age in the next three decades as the North Atlantic ocean undergoes drastic changes.

Yet we see no move by any of the large climate culprits.

I do like the idea of nations who sign onto Kyoto putting sanctions and other trade boycots on those nations that do not smarten up.

We all know oil is going to run out - so why not start changing now while it costs less?

If there was ever a time for Canadians to become pushy - now is the time - for time is running out on this nation called Canada.
