Despite Smiles, Divisions Linger After U.S.-Mexico-Canada Summit

Posted on Saturday, April 01 at 13:06 by jensonj
The leaders said they intend to build on that progress _ Canada and Mexico are the U.S.'s largest trading partners _ to make their continent more competitive globally. And they pledged cooperation on new energy sources and bird-flu preparations. "This is probably one of the most productive meetings we've had," Bush gushed to Fox, the meeting host and a friend dating to before both assumed their nations' presidencies. Fox said, "We have made a very good use of time." And Harper announced a third annual trilateral meeting for next year in Canada _ again framed around the Security and Prosperity Partnership the three nations formed a year ago. http://www.kristv.com/Global/story.asp?S=4710058&nav=Bsmh [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on April 2, 2006]

    "President Bush, closing a three-nation summit Friday, defended requiring secure documents from border-crossing Canadians"

    Anytime you can make someone do something that you do not need to do you reveal to the entire world just how much of a control freak you are.

    It's not that Bush can't do anything, it is that he won't.

    Too bad that many Americans fail to see that their worst enemy doesn't live in a cave, or in a tent, or even in a foreign country.

    Their worst enemy lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC.

    Control freak? Canadians have to show a passport to enter any other country in the world. Why not the US?

    That doesn't make Bush an enemy. It was the Senate that proposed this change, not Bush. Bush has done many things to deserve the ire of Canadians, but not this.

    Bullsh*t.

    Bush and his cadre are directly responsible. I suggest you look up John Sensenbrenner, and others.

    I see Mr. Bush's name nowhere on this Senate bill. You are welcome to google "REAL ID Act of 2005".<br />
    <br />
    I really don't see the big deal about having to show ID to cross a border. Or is it you're saying the Senate and President of the US have no right to pass laws regarding their own country?<p>---<br>"I think it's important to always carry enough technology to restart civilization, should it be necessary." Of course you don't see Bush' name on Sensenbrenner's bill, it is not on it.

    Sensenbrenner is where he is because Bush wants him there. If you think for one second that Bush doesn't %100 agree with what Sensenbrenner is doing I am of the opinion that you are gravely mistaken.

    And if these boys have their way, we will need to produce documents to enter the US, while, if I am correct Americans will need no such docs to eneter Canada.

    Do you see where I am heading now?

    Yes, I see, hidden in that anti-Bush rhetoric. (Why shouldn't members of the same political party agree 100%?)<br />
    <br />
    And similar legislation has been introduced in the House oC, but keeps getting killed with each minority government.<br />
