Green Party Warns Of Hidden Agenda

Posted on Wednesday, May 16 at 09:15 by JimmyD
She said that the Security and Prosperity Partnership operates in a world of secrecy with an agenda advancing by stealth. In fact, the news that the next Canada-US-Mexico summit will take place in Canada (August 21-22 at the Chateau Montebello in Quebec) came through Mexican and US sources and remains unconfirmed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Ms. May also denounced the decision of the parliamentary committee examining the SPP to reject the Green Party's application to testify. "The committee should be seeking the widest possible input on this important issue," she said. "The Security and Prosperity Partnership has serious implications for every aspect of Canadian life. It will affect our energy policies, social programmes, environmental enforcement and much more. "The hidden agenda on Canada's water is just one of the issues that needs to be brought out from behind the closed doors of the SPP meetings and into the full light of informed public discussion." http://www.greenparty.ca/en/releases/15.05.2007 [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on May 16, 2007]

It is good to see Ms May keep on bringing the SPP / NAU / NAFTA agenda to the attention of the MSM. Since she became the leader of the Greens this issue has seen more light than ever before, in part due to her ability to get the atention of the media. I realy hope that the Greens get a few seats next time around, but even if not they are more effective than some that ARE in the House! They are showing that they are NOT just about environmental issues.

I agree this is good news; something must have changed because we haven't
heard much on the SPP from the Greens before and although they did talk about
NaFTA, they wouldn't go so far as to say we should get out! Maybe now they
will? Hope so! Everybody knows, NDP, Greens, CAP etc but so far people seem to
fear saying what needs to be said. Neither the Libs or Cons would say get out of
NAFTA or SPP because both were instrumental in their creation, but with enough
pressure from citizens and the other parties maybe now they will see the light?
