We Were Human Labratory Rats, Used By The Canadian Defence Minister Of The Day.

I am convinced that political parties are nothing more than a vehicle to feed and protect the wealthy, while using the peoples "government" to achieve the personal goals for the few in the party. The rest of us are expendable in the eyes of those who govern on behalf of the party. "Government" serves the same purpose as a corporation does, both protect the abusers of the public trust thus giving the governing party a back door to exit, when things such as the blood scandal and now as we learn the misuse of military personal. Many years later we learn thanks to the media that we were used as human laboratory rats by the governing party of the day, which just happened to be the Liberal Party. I heard on an American radio station that at the time the military and civilian population at and around Base Gagetown New Brunswick was being poisoned, the American Government had banned Agent Purple. I guess someone who was a good party loyalist here in Canada at the time was in need of money, so the governing party chose money over life. This is why the party system sickens me; these people do not really care who they walk on or destroy as long as the good old boys in the party prosper and to hell with anyone else. (Minister of Defense at the time 1963 to 68) Liberal Party Cabinet Minister Paul Hellyer So just what is a "government" and whom really does "government" work for? The time has come for Canadians to revolt against all political parties and what they stand for, the best way to bring about change is to turn away from the party system as it has been well documented these are nothing more than private clubs that cater to the elite. Think about it, who gets the tax breaks, who get the grants, who get legislative protection, who get governments attention when they need tax dollars for their business and who can takes our public infrastructure tax dollars and spreads them around to their political friends, then get away with it? Answer: Political parties! It is time to bring creditability and accountability to government, and the first best step is not to support a candidate of any party what so ever. For years I have been hearing that all elected members are not bad and that we do elect good ones, well if they are so good then why haven't they brought accountability to government? Could it be that these so-called good elected have been castrated by the party structure, rendered voiceless and if they do speak up, they are banished to the back of the room or booted out of the party. My point is, how many "government" bureaucrats and cabinet ministers in Mike Pearson's liberal governing party knew that these two poisons, agent orange and agent purple were being ingested by Canadian soldiers while they were on training in the fields and wood in Camp Gagetown? I never signed any agreement with the Canadian Government/Military that said they had the right to use my body as a laboratory experiment. If German Second World War veterans are being rounded up and are being deported for their crimes against humanity during the Second World War, so should those who were serving in the "Liberal Party "government" of the day. This was a vile act against those citizens living on or working at Camp Gagetown during the spraying of these chemicals, while knowing full well that these were not going to be good for the health of those citizen whose body were going to be contaminated. I fell like my country sentenced me to death; but then again it was not my country that carried out this act, but a political party. To think that a god dam political party can come to power, abuse its citizens and the only way we can hold them accountable is vote against the party in the next election, surely we can do better than that? Maybe we should be looking at suing them, but then again most if not all judges are appointed to the courts by these vile private clubs. One could say the fox has hired one of its own to guard the chicken house; and we all know they are not going to eat their own, are they? So Paul Hellyer, just what were you thinking when you gave the okay to drop those chemicals on your Canadian citizens? Or, more to the point, what did you know about the dangers involved--and please do not try to tell me you didn't know or understand either. What a shame. I am sure when our soldiers signed on they never expected to be victimized by their own government. I know nothing can replace your health, but I hope you get some compensation for this. It is the very least they should do.

My Grandfather was in the B.C Dragoons and has tumors in his spine, prostate cancer, and is now going blind. I have been posting about agent Orange and never put two and two together until now. I hope you will share your reply with us.

I never signed any agreement with the government of Canada giving them permission to use me as a test tube. Paul Hellyer should be charged with crimes against humanity.
Political parties nothing more than dirty private clubs, where people such as Paul Hellyer linger and profit from their abuse of power.
The bastards "government" bureaucrats are now starting to say that agent orange will not harm humans. Well if I can get my hands on some, maybe they can prove that to me.

Remember that millions of farm workers around the world, some of them little children, have been and are suffering and dying from the effects of farm chemicals used in the great Green Revolution. Then, add to this the billions of people, including all of North Americans and Europeans, who are eating foods saturated with these poisons every day, reeking in the supermarket bins. We, who grow and eat organic produce in the backwoods can smell them the minute we enter the vegetable sections.

There are at least 30 or 35 million Canadians who have never tasted real vegetables, real eggs and meat and have no idea of what they're eating and poisoning themselves with.
We hear a lot of propaganda and receive daily calls and begging letters for donations to cancer research. But nobody talks about the fact that 50 to 70 years ago cancers were virtually unknown, with the odd case here and there. No children had cancers. The first I heard of leukemia was when the comedian Red Skelton brought his little boy to England in the early '50s to show him the world before he died of the "very rare illness of leukemia". Look at the childrens' hospitals now, jammed with little, bald headed kids. We were in our 40s in Vancouver when we first heard of breast cancer, when a woman across the street came down and died from it. What is the percentage now ? 30% of women coming down ? Why is society not only tolerating, but promoting this very profitable crime wave ?

The reasons? Those beautiful corporately grown vegetables in the supermarkets, the beef filled with growth hormones, the laying hens boxed up where they can't even stand up, the pigs being fed with their own manure. How about the microwave ovens in every home, restaurant and kitchen, burning all food values out of everything, changing the molecular structures even of water, so that people eat worthless, but very profitable junk.

Then of course, we come to all the aquifers and every breath of air filled with poisons put there by all kinds of very profitable corporations, while governments stand there doing nothing, not daring to question these criminal practices, fearing the wrath of their most generous corporate sponsors. What we need is not more Green Revolution, but a Brain Revolution by the public. Will it ever come ? I certanly hope so for the sake of our children and grandchildren. Ed Deak, Big Lake, BC.

Addendum....... There's now growing evidence, based on the figures of the First Gulf War, that every soldier serving in Iraq, regardless of nationality, has been and is being exposed to potentially deadly doses of radiation from the Depleted uranium ammunition used indiscriminately all over the country.

The same applies to a lesser degree to Bosnia and Kosovo. Thousands of Gulf War veterans have now come down with and many have already died from a variety of cancers, although the governments of the participating countries are doing their best to cover up the facts. In Iraq the situation is far worse and for all practical purposes all civilians and soldiers are under the sentence of death and so are children fathered by, or born to them.

The use of DU ammunition is a major war crime and crime against humanity, as it also spreads radiation over the globe. I hope, those responsible will one day be held responsible for their criminal actions and pay the price. Ed Deak, Big Lake, BC.

I've currently got the public inquiry on CBC-N on the tube right now.

Holeeee! These people are very angry. One gentleman presented a FIA document he recieved this week from DND stating that spraying of 24-d, 24-t and 'agent orange' commenced back as far as 1956. And Agent White was sprayed up until 1984!

One gentleman stated that when he worked on the range in the 1950's and early 60's that they were stained orange and yellow from fixed wing spraying. His wife had to wash his clothes, and she died in 1996 from cancer throughout her body, and he has chronic lung problems. From the way he was yelling, I would have hated to be in that theater with his lungs at full capacity.

Nice, I'm pissed too. My family fished and hiked in "the area" at Gagetown, in 1970 - 1972. They affected alot of people. Soldiers, thier families, civilian workers and civilians living in proximity to Gagetown. In the Summer we went to Camp Aldershot and our family camped there in the training area while my Dad worked, now today I hear on the radio that they buried some of those barrels at Aldershot, I wonder how safe the water supply was and how safe the Blueberrries we ate were. I guess I not so surprised anymore that I'm chemically sensitive, having lived on and around military bases in Canada. The militray have a poor record in this regard. There doesn't seem to be much mention yet about the possibility that the "routine defoliating" that was done in the area at Gagetown was actually experimentation with formulations ie. white, purple, orange for use in Vietnam. It is mentioned as experimentation in the book "Frederick Street Life and Death on Canada's Love Canal" a book by Maude Barlow and Elizabeth May about the sydney Tar ponds which has a section at the end that talks about other toxic sites in Canada.

Further my above anon post, I wonder if the media are still talking about the spraying as though it were routine defoliation or are they more correctly labeling it as experimental research. I found this link the other day when I googled agent purple, gagetown.

http://www.nal.usda.gov/speccoll/findaids/agentorange/catalog/00029.HTML

A report shows up for plant physiology located at Fort Detrick, Frederick Maryland re spraying of agent purple, at Gagetown in 1966. I couldn't access the PDF file.
On second look, I'm an idiot. It seems that CBC is talking about experimental angle, although DND are downplaying that angle hard and fast, and my local news was not talking about the research/experimental link when the story originally broke last week.
