Commons To Vote On Missile Defence

Posted on Tuesday, October 19 at 11:24 by shabusen
Though it may be considered a foregone conclusion and the government isn't bound by the outcome, it appears that a vote is soon to take place regarding Canada's participation in the US missile defence program. At least this way we can see which MP's can be held accountable.

It will be good to see who votes how, but I'm still not very encouraged by this. I would prefer a referendum since we are basically deciding whether or not we're going to abandon a policy that goes back 40-50yrs.

Strong support in the House of Commons will show the world that Canada can be responsible for Defence. It will also finally demonstrate that we do support our continental allies despite the rantings of a few idiot MP's. It's about time, Canada should have signed on to the missile defence program long ago.

There is no reason in this age to be so mis/uninformed.

Read Mel Hurtig's latest, Rushing to Armageddon, and then review the dribble of your statement.

    POTS

PS. It is not a defense system, it is truly nucelar arms proliferation.

Because a bunch of sniveling Conservative US suckups and Liberal sellouts join in does not mean Canadians support missile defence! Crips man, what have you been smoking?

Neither party formed the majority, neither party got nowhere close to 50% of the popular vote and only some 60% of eligable voters actually bothered to cast a ballot. So in essence both parties combined with no dissenters only represent at best 35% of Canadians.

Bet you never thought of that while forming your woody for America and nuclear war did you? But don't take my word for it, tune it to Global TV - they will tell you the truth...

Many Canadians do support missile defence when polled, it depends on the question of course and what results the pollster wants.

Regardless of the latest spin churned out by the media to create stories however, the government is responsible for the defence of the country now and in the future. While preparing defenses against other threats and eliminating potential threats it would be folly to leave a one big gaping hole that says 'hit me here'.

    Ya Anon,

It's better to paint one big bullseye over Canada instead. Those US flags attatched to the sites will work just perfectly.
