Peace Marches Tomorrow

No matter where you are in Canada, there should be a peace march opposing the continued war in Iraq near you tomorrow. Several of these are listed in our forums, since some Vive members are going. I myself will be at the rally after the march in Edmonton.

We want world peace. I don't know if you know this, but there are some areas of the world that are at war? There are young men and women being killed right now trying to stablize some very wrong headed wars. We would like them to come home safe and sound.

If you want to understand, stick around maybe you'll find something here that will help you with that.

I didn't intend to sound like I didn't care for those who died. I think how the Iraq war started seems wrong, but you never know something good may come from this. If the troops left Iraq, the country might descend into chaos. Even Howard Dean the anti-war candidate wants the troops to be there longer.

I don't think it is a matter of the troops abandoning the country, it is a matter of the U.S. turning over the entire issue, all control to the U.N. and that is what they don't want to do. If the U.N. was running the show the U.S. would not be able to control the oil, or the contracts to rebuild, that puts a damper into some large corporations plans. People who are speaking up about the war, saying we want peace, aren't specifically speaking of Iraq, but inclusively, speaking for the world; we are tired of war being the answer. If they would stop funding the war, stop feeding the drug lords and war mongers and start feeding the people, we wouldn't have the wars we do.

I know that is very simplistic but it is a large part of the problem.

I think the main point as well is that the U.S. still says this is a good and righteous war and it's accomplishing what it is supposed to, making Iraq better etc., and that it is still justified even though they never found the WMD and intelligence reports were apparently not as clear or serious as we were all originally told.

So the marches are in part to show the continued opposition to the war and the continued outrage over the fact it is unjustified.

Now call it extreme if you like, but I propose we hit it hard, and we hit it fast, with a major, and I mean major, leaflet campaign.--Rimmer
