Genuine Inquiry And A Remembrance Of Reality

Posted on Thursday, November 11 at 13:00 by kurtise6
tomorrow [today now--Ed] is november 11. we call it ?remembrance day?- a day to remind ourselves of our destructive past, the brave (and ignorant) young men who died in world war I and II, and most importantly, the horrible realities of war. i see very little difference between the ignorant masses of the global north of today and those citizens within the nazi germany of the 30s and 40s. the preponderance of violence, ideological purpose, and the ?us/them? mentality are a few incarnations of the same foolishness, fear, and insecurity which have constantly threatened the goodness of the human experience. after WWI, the people of this world were scared shitless. after WWII we said ?never again? again. and yet, and yet, here we are, in the greatest cluster fuck anyone could have conceived of. i want you all to make this ?remembrance day? a day of genuine contemplation and more importantly dialogue. reflect (out loud, preferably) on our common history of ignorance, futile conflict, and the our call to revolutionary action with which we are now faced. since the citizens of the ?wealthy? nations of this planet are so completely separated from the reality of the human situation it is unsurprising that we find ourselves the unknowing perpetrators of much of the horrors that exist. what we eat, how we get around, what we do for work- every aspect of our lives is up for a critical analysis. ultimately, it is in the realm of our common humanity which we must tap if we are to see a rise in passionate action against the systems of oppression and harm that are so prevalent. simple questions like: ?does this serve the future of human life?? and ?but what does it mean?? will uncover the depths of issues we face, not only as individuals, but as a species. forgetting about the protocol, we must create the possibilities for change in how we respond to the close-mindedness that surrounds us. although people would prefer to live in a comfortable fantasy world, it is our duty to shatter their illusion (not unlike what happened in the perceptions of those young men who went out and died in the great blunders that were the ?world wars?). in order to empower others we must first see that we are limitless in our ability to create doubt and spread awareness amongst those who would rather sit back and enjoy the surface. i acknowledge the path that we are on as one leading to immense suffering, wonton destruction, and futile struggle. we must be open to new ideas, we must think outside the box, we must do what is hardest to do: we must systematically deconstruct the forms of fear that reside within our selves, acting out of the highest form of love.

I get the impression that you are young. I must commend you for compassionately taking a look at what is really going on in the world. Here I thought all the youth were air heads, and it was the old leading the charge for freedom and truth. Welcome to our world.

kurtise 6, may I suggest you change your handle to 'genuine'. Great post and I agree with every point you've made. I believe like Janis that you may be young but clear insight and good judgment is not necessarily a given no matter how many years one carries around. You may find it disconcerting to find that the issues that matters to you now still won't matter to others in your entourage even as they age and gain more life experience like you will.<p> Your approach reminds me very much of my own daughter's questioning about world events and of her place/role in it. Never stop expressing yourself and know you are never completely alone with your questioning. It is the only way to find answers.

Yes, excellent post! No doubt, we cannot continue on the present path!
