Is Canada angry enough to swallow the Bush agenda?

Barring an 11th-hour shift in dead-heat polls, Canadians appear set to not only remove the Liberals' three-term majority in the Commons, but possibly hand the keys to an infant party that has yet to hold a policy convention.

...

His economic platform is the least prudent of the big three, outdreaming even the NDP by $30 billion on surplus projections and calling for big Gordon Campbell-style tax cuts that many fear will lead to deep, Campbell-style service cuts.

In B.C., MP Ted White wants to axe film-industry assistance while MP Randy White wants to rewrite the Charter of Rights -- which Harper would torpedo with the notwithstanding clause.

Harper doesn't seem to care who delivers health care. The CRTC and CBC would be gutted and bilingualism eroded. Harper wants to curb the Supreme Court. He denies the science around global warming.

His team would gut the hate-crime bill for the Bible. They want symbiosis with the U.S., more police, more prisoners, no gun registry -- and Harper would have taken us to war in Iraq.

Is Canada really cranky enough to embrace the Republican agenda of George W. Bush? YIKES!

Yeah, i don`t know where people`s heads are at. I`m scared! We lose with the liberals and the conservatives. And the NDP, well, I can only hope that if they get elected, or more realistically, help to form a minority, that they push hard for left wing policies.

The Conservatives played this election nearly perfect. They came across to many Canadians as moderate - like the old Progressive Conservative party. Thats what they wanted most by joining the CA and PC party. They lost that far right stigma.

Here in BC Campbell is sliding down in the polls for the same policies that Harper is pushing. Yet so many here are ready and willing to try it all over again. The old trickle down - voodoo economic model has never worked anywhere it has been tried yet we are in for another round.

Unfortunately we will have to endure another round of negative spending, social cuts and a complete tearing down of Canada's good name before many wake up to the devil they now know. Harper and team are no friends of Canada, they want what they want no matter the cost.

Let us also remember on the grand scheme the represent only about 20% of Canadians. And for that they get to destroy everything that we have built till today?

I am keeping my fingers crossed for some sanity to prevail...

Another arrogant writer who assumes Conservative voters are ignorant of the Conservative governing philosophy - they're not. The Conservatives have the best platform of all the parties. It is just too obvious why it is wrong to vote Liberal, those thieves didn't govern the country very well while they were busy stealing. The NDP would bankrupt the treasury in no time - thanks to Bob Rae in Ontario for pointing that out. The Bloc exists to destroy the country, enough said about that. The Greens barely register and are of course focused narrowly on environmental issues, not governing material. Canada needs the strong leadership of a federal government that knows what job it is supposed to do in this country and the only party that understands this are the Conservatives.

    What tripe!

The Conservatives at best will represent 20% of Canadians - they have no mandate to change anything. Their socially regressive homophobic platform is not in Canada's best interest.

Look at the numbers appeaser - The Centre for Policy Alternatives did the math and the harpie government will run a massive deficeit just as Mulroney/Harris/Eves/Campbell/Bush/Thatcher/Reagan did. Voodoo economics has never worked and it never will.

Those that rally to protect the rich are nothing more than useful idiots.

I would call them "useless idiots."
