Come On, Joe, Just Let It Go

JOE CLARK returned from self-imposed exile Sunday long enough to fire parting shots at the Conservative Party of Canada.

The former Tory prime minister warned that newly minted Conservative Leader Stephen Harper would be "dangerous" at the helm of the nation, adding that even Paul Martin would be better.

"What I know of Stephen Harper and what I know of Paul Martin, I have to believe that Paul Martin would be less dangerous to the country," Mr. Clark told the Globe and Mail after taking similar swipes on CTV's Question Period.

Joe was the dangerous Prime Minister, he let his gov't fall because he couldn't count. That's credibility.

So the author thinks that Joe Clark should abandon his principles and support this party just because it bears the name "Conservative"? I'm proud of Clark, I wish all politicians in Canada had his ability speak out like that.

It was Mulroney that put the Conservative party in 5th place and I hope he keeps praising Harper so that we can put the party back into 5th place where it belongs. Clark recognized that Mulroney and Harper are cut from the same bolt of cloth, moth eaten and riddled with corruption. Mulroney is the overlord of the Sun newspapers so expect a lot of praise from The Sun about Harper.

The more praise Mr. Harper gets from Mulroney and Harris, the better chance that our wishes will come true when the new conservative party end up with less votes then what the two parties (PC-CA) had as a total before the merge. A "in your face" result and I can't wait to see it happen.

Yeah didn't someone say that they actually <I>wanted</I> Harris to run for leadership of the American Party, just so they could see him fail? hehe<p>---<br>"An empty stomach is not a good political advisor." - Einstein

I should write Gordon Campbell and ask him to endorse Harper. That would pretty much guarantee the Con's being shut out of BC

The author of this piece is waaaay off the mark here. Joe watched the party he loved and had laboured for most of his life being taken over by a bunch of neo-con lites.
I watched the machinations that harper approved to steal the conservative party. His mentor and champion is now *cringe* mulroney.
My respect sky-rocketed when Joe more or less told the Canadian public to beware of harper.
The middle ground is shifting so far right that even the NDP at times frightens me with it's rhetoric. Let's stick to our principles here people and let's not be frightened into backing a bunch that craves to be patted on the head by the Yanks. Namely the Conservatives....and it appears the libs too.

    Well Hello everybody

Joe Clark the weak this, the weak that has the conservatives spinning their wheels off. I say good for you Joe.

In fact I think that Joe should even consider running for the Progressive Canadian Party. If for nothing else he can prove to the Conservatives that we might have lost the Progressive Conservative Party but we certainly did not lose our priniciples. Joe still has the stuff to win.

This new Progressive Canadian Party has taken many stances that are even opposite to what the old PC Party stood for in its latter years. They believe in fair trade not free trade. They believe in accountability in politics, Banning of bulk water export, providing health care that Canadians deserve, and many more ideas and principles. This is a party with a mission to provide Canadians with a political Party with a centrist view that will contrast the liberals. For those who support CAP which is good, I believe that these two parties can certainly work together I believe I read in the PC Platform something of getting rid of the GST and replacing it with something much better. There is also something in regards to reworking the banking system and using the Bank of Canadian for the funding of many different projects. Those interested in environmental issues the Progressive Canadian Party has adopted the Progressive Conservative policy which received high marks from a number of environmental organizations. The difference in the Progressive Canadian Policy is that it is more enhanced. I was at a meeting yesterday where a number of NGO's attended talking about educating Canadians about the issues which are important to Canada's future. I believe that the Progressive Canadian Party had policies which addressed all of the issues which were tabled.

So this is the time to get involved. The One big Party is possible the people out their are looking for alternatives. The Progressive Canadian Party has to be looked at seriously. This may be is best time in years to be starting a new party. For those who said it couldn't be done, that it is to much work well the Progressive Canadian Party does now have a strong and viable set of policies. What they need now is for Candidates to come forward and people of like minds to come out and help. For those who want to sit back and talk about a Central,Progressive Party, don't sit back to long because I believe that mantra will go from we should to I wish I had. I wish I had is only good in palm readings.

We need to get on with this one big party.
