Canadian Chamber President Applauds Chamber Northumberland

Northumberland is not alone. Other chambers across Canada have undertaken similar partnerships, and it has paid off. They have seen results when dealing with local governments. As well, joining together and working cooperatively better enables the Chamber area to compete with other parts of the province, the country and even internationally. “It takes vision, courage and determination to make these changes but then that’s what the Chamber of Commerce is all about,” said Anthony. “In the Canadian Chamber of Commerce we bring together diverse chamber members from across Canada, each one representing its own local community and yet united on many issues and in many common causes. Every chamber retains its individual character while at the same time building a network that forms the backbone of the chamber movement.” Anthony touted the value of the Chamber and the power of its network in defending its interests at all levels of government. http://www.communitypress-online.com/template.php?id=26673&RECORD_KEY(News)=id&id(News)=26673

Yeah for them... wonder if they are also proud of their dismal record of keeping candidates away from their meetings during election cycles?

Whether it be municipal, provincial or federal, many local chambers have done their utmost to stifle debate and differing voices by excluding or even outright denying electoral candidates the right to speak on equal terms.
