Castro, Chavez Defy US Trade Pact

Posted on Thursday, December 16 at 10:43 by N Say
Naming the new pact the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), the presidents said it would eliminate trade barriers and tax obstacles, provide incentives for investment, increase banking relations and tourism cooperation.

Venezuela promised financing for Cuban industrial and infrastructure projects, while Cuba agreed to pay a minimum price of $27 per barrel of Venezuelan oil, as part of the accord "to apply the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas".

At the risk of being unpopular and having CSIS and the CIA on my ass:

I am very happy to hear this news. Castro and Chavez have been made out to seem like Satanists by the US controlled media, when in actuality they are looking out for their people's interest before the US'. Something that should be commended as most politicians in our country would consider that political suicide.

    This is huge news.

CIA & CSIS 'on your ass'? - You're flattering yourself if you think they care about what you think.

excellent if it actually works out. now canada needs to get on board and expand our own trade horizons. doubtful if any of our greedy oil industries would let oil go so cheap though.

This is a good time to make concrete changes without the USA overlords interferring. This is a good time for any country to go over the head of the USA. They're too busy with Iraq, Iran, Syria, Israel, and the Jesusland people. The military is ev--e---r----y----w-----h---e----r-----e. Actually this would be a good time for the unhappy USAmericans to have a takeover. The authorities must be pretty stretched inside the country too.

It is a good time to make changes. If the US wasn't tied down by the Iraqi's they would be tormenting the folks in Latin America.(Way to go Mujahiddin!) Not that just about every govt. in Latin America is left wing or populist. I'm sure the corporation bosses don't like that... but what can they do thanks to good old imperial overstretch.

    Well I was only joking:

But, there was a 20 year old in the US named Sherman Austin with similar viewpoints to mine who had 25 FBI agents enter his house with guns blazzing because he had a link to another site that had amongst other things instructions on how to build a bomb. He was arrested and put into maximum securtiy prison for a year, for virtually nothing. For 'bomb plans' that you can find on 'howitworks.com' or in books sold on 'amazon.com'. One of the terms of his probabtion: he is not allowed to have any relations with anyone who wants to change the current gov't. Ridiculous to think that the US was founded on the fact that the principals of control under British rule needed to be broken and now any such thoughts are condemnable.
For anyone who didn't know about this story it is an interesting read. Zach de la Rocha's speech is especially insightful.
---
When an invasion can bring a country its freedom then unconsciousness is true happiness.
